Yeah, this sounds like it'd be very helpful while playing!
I know I get a little tired not seeing my ammo. |

Yes it would. I prefer seeing my maximum ammo and health while playing and not spaced. But that new style doesn't even function. It remains the same as the old HUD.

This problem also occurs in Heretic, Hexen, and Strife. |

Looks like the new style HUD is explicitly disabled in non-Doom games... why? |
|
|
|
I think it is overdue for addition to other non-DooM IWADs. |

Quote from Dusk Looks like the new style HUD is explicitly disabled in non-Doom games... why?
Actually the new style HUD is implemented in the Doom status bar code. Non-Doom games simply don't use this code at all. |

Since Chex is essentially Doom with other actors, I can make Check use the Doom status bar code though: Please test if this has any bad side effects. |

The HUD seems to work fine. There are only a few problems I found which seem to originate from within the IWAD itself:
-Minor sprite misalignment (not really a big deal).
-Font color/settings makes the font appear too bright at times (although I should probably adjust my monitor's brightness settings).
Otherwise, it works fine. |

|
Can you post screenshots to illustrate the problems? |

This should improve the alignment.
The contrast issue doesn't seem to be a bug to me, but a consequence of the Chex font / colors. |
|
|

That looks much better.
Yes - The font issue can easily be patched in a PWAD so it shouldn't be a worry. |

Things seem to be looking perfectly fine now. Saw that this was on the roadmap, perhaps it's something that can be ticked off the list. |
