Summary | 0000720: Bots are stronger in health than normal players |
Description | Bots are a little stronger than regular players even on the lowest skill and botskill difficulty. It's my assumption they start off with 200 regardless of the skills set.
This isn't of any real importance to the release of 98e so it is marked as such. It is unknown if bots were built like this intentionally.
This is an import of this report:'http://www.skulltag.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=33&t=21465 [^]' by request in case the forum runs into any mishap. |
Steps To Reproduce | 1) Open Skulltag, go to any deathmatch map (Local or offline, it doesn't matter) on the lowest botskill difficulty.
2) Add any bot. Freeze it as soon as it spawns to keep it from acquiring armor or any items that may increase it's survivability.
3) ]give railgun in the console. Kill the bot.
4) By this point, it should be noted that it takes 3 shots to kill the bot.
5) ]summon doomplayer in the console. Kill it with the railgun. Note that it takes 2 shots to kill the pawn. This pawn handles exactly the same as regular ingame players online DPS-wise, meaning that bots always start out stronger than you. |

I can't reproduce it. I'll show you how I tested that:
I opened skulltag, then in the console:
'sv_cheats 1', 'botskill 0', 'map d2lms1', 'addbot', 'give railgun'
then I freezed, located the bot and killed it. It took 2 hits for me (I waited that the spawn protection goes away, just to be sure). |

Odd. I can reproduce it through the skirmish menu which is what I was using at the time, but I can't when you do it like that.

You must indeed wait for the respawn protection to wear off before trying to kill the bot. If I don't wait for it to wear off, I can fire 6 rails before killing the bot.

Can you reproduce it reliably, i.e., always?
Edit:
Now I see. If "skill" is 0, the bots either have more health, or the rail is simply weaker.

Could this be because of the half-damage exception skill 0 has? |
|
|

|
So, are the bots really behaving differently from normal players or is this just because of the halved damage in "skill 0" and the tests with bots were made with "skill 0" and the tests with players were made with "skill > 0"? |
|
|
|
I just did a quick test and can confirm that it's only due to "skill 0". There are no differences between bots and players from what I can tell.
> and the tests with bots were made with "skill 0" and the tests with players were made with "skill > 0"?
Most likely the users only summoned a "DoomPlayer" actor, they never tested with players on a local server since they didn't know that "skill 0" was the cause of the unexpected behavior. |

Alright, then everything is working as intended -> closed. |
