0000581: demo_skiptonextround or demo_skiptonextpoint
Basically, if you type in demo_skiptonextround/point in console, you can completely skip to a point on the current demo where a team or player scores recently. Now how would this be useful? Lets say there was a massive game of AoW II, and the game lasts an hour, and a player joins the server about 10 minutes before the map changes, and is in suspicion of an aimbot. Are we really supposed to watch 50 minutes of a demo just to check if a player is aimbotting? I mean what if it turned out he wasn't aimbotting at all? That's 50 minutes wasted.

If that doesn't work can we atleast get demo_skiptominute 'XX'?
Just type in demo_skiptonextround/point to skip ahead.

I'd like to take it a step further: a complete demoplayback "menu" with a timeslider and pause/play button.

That'd be awesome, though I doubt it'll happen, lets just hope we can atleast get demos to fast forward or something, like in Zdaemon.

Any sort of fast forward or skip option would be great for demos

Hmmm... imho it's too complicated. Maybe a good idea is: create a new program called, for example "Skulltag demo player" which could have a similar interface to a common media player.

Demo is not video/sound.
Demo is just recording of network traffic, you basicaly have to run all in one map to see everything synced and you need game to play it ... however, fast forward is possible, just make game tics shorter.

According to Ralphis, you can fastforward, rewind, record, pause, double playback, zoom, watch another demo simultaneously, and play in the demo.

But seriously, I'd love to see this for certain reasons like certain CTF players after a flag is scored or record for a youtube video.

This would be nice for maps that exceed 30 minutes.

I added the new command demo_skiptics (still in a very experimental stage) that allows you to skip as many tics as you like. For instance, "demo_skiptics 35" skips a second, "demo_skiptics 2100" skips a minute and so on. Please test this binary to see how well it works.

Since I didn't get any feedback on the new function so far, I added it to our repository in the hope that it will be tested when the next official beta build is released.
