0000478: Server Variable for Possesion game mode.
This server variable would let the server owner decide if the hellstone carrier can shoot while carrying it. SV_possvar 1 would mean that the carrier can shoot, and SV_possvar 0 would mean that the carrier can't.

I think Possession (and team poss) gets slapped and disregarded because of the fact you cannot shoot while carrying the stone. I think this would be a great addition to the mode.

Among other flawed gamemodes, I'd also like to see Possession gain some appeal and I think this would go a long way towards that.

This would be great to make the possession modes more appealing to play with lesser player counts. IMHO, maybe it would be good to simply make the option become the new default behavior, and make the old behavior the flag to toggle. As of now, there are only 2 possession servers hosted on the server list from the looks of it. It's not a very fun mode to play in its current state.
If there's not enough players present to guard you in a team game, it simply becomes a boring hide-and-seek and cat-and-mouse chase between the hellstone carrier and other opposing players.
