In GZDoom, not only can you make a custom color for your player, but you can also choose from an array of built-in color settings that derive colors directly from Doom's play palette. Doom Legacy also had this exact feature come to think of it.

This might be impossible to do (at least reasonably) since Zandro's codebase is so outdated, but I wouldn't object to something like this if it is.

I found out a few weeks ago that Zandronum apparently doesn't crash if I add the custom color lines from GZDoom's player actor to Zandronum's (via an external mod of course) but if I try to add GZDoom's player menu (which besides the color selection function isn't much different from Zandro's) it instantly crashes Zandronum when trying to go to said menu.

3.1 now properly supports player colorsets.
