0003528: Add issue categories to Site project
Please add some of these suggested categories in MantisBT tracker for the Site project:

  • Forums
  • Issue tracker (or "MantisBT")
  • Wiki
  • IRC
  • Website (all "misc" or "other" issues)
  • (Administration?)

The "Site" project has so many different parts. Lacking the categories makes it more difficult for me to find issues from "View Issues" on MantisBT for different parts of the site, as they're all clumped into "one" category.

I think the "feature" severity is really meant to be "suggestion", with any higher severity actually being a "bug".
This ticket would be assigned "issue tracker" or "MantisBT" category, replacing the "[All Projects] Suggestion" category.

MantisBT's own bug tracker uses lots of categories at upstream, of course.'https://mantisbt.org/bugs/view_filters_page.php?for_screen=1&static=1&view_type=simple [^]'

Such categories may also be useful for the Doomseeker project, although those are not considered in this ticket at this time.
No tags attached.

I've mostly stopped using the "[All Projects] Suggestion" category now, because it makes almost no sense; that one is almost always a "feature" severity. I can also reword my summary whenever to make it feel like a bug (an issue).

That's what this is place is about: Issues, not suggestions. My suggestion "add X" can be reworded into an issue "I wanted to do X, but it doesn't exist yet".

We used to have projects for IRC and the Wiki. Categories would be better, but the problem is the admins of that aren't looking here so nothing ever happened with those tickets.

Obviously I have nothing against if they want to use the tracker but you'll have to convince them (which won't happen here). As it stands right now adding these categories would be useless since if it's not something I can address (basically the tracker and home page) then it's probably not getting addressed. (Although now and then forum issues get taken care of.)

I'm the wiki admin, and I check the Zan tracker frequently. It's probably not worth adding a wiki category or whatever because nobody ever really reports issues with the wiki. IRC is still hosted by Konar6 who has essentially disappeared so it's even less worth adding that.

The main problem with Wiki is that it is closed to edit for everyone. If it was open for anyone - debugging wiki would work much better, Now we have 30 people who are allowed to edit it. Because of that data out there is often outdated.

Yes, thanks to you.

And it's not closed to everyone, there's literally a "request account" link, and I check requests frequently.

Wikipedia administrator suggesting I was the one who turned the option off.

Funny. Since I have no power over the wiki.
