I dream of eradication of the chat/console/lag icons! Heck, I even know some people on the doom multiplayer scene who don't play ST and use this as their first main reason. :)
+ imo all they ever do is get in the way, you are bang on about rockets etc coming towards you behind these icons. :D

I suggested that cl_icons and cl_medals should be turned into allow icons and allow medals in the multiplayer menu. They used to be in the menu, but were removed in 97d. |

I'm wondering why they were removed in the first place. Anyway, I agree that these options should be returned. Unfortunately, the player setup menu is full, so we have to think about where to put these options. For instance, I could rename "weapon setup" to "advanced setup" and collect the missing options there. |

Well, "Multiplayer -> Player Setup" is a duplicate of "Options -> Player Setup". And it seems rather redundant to have "Spectate" and "Switch Teams" in there when you can easily bind them to keys.
Why is "cl_dontrestorefrags" a client option? If I am not mistaken, you can technically cheat by reconnecting to the server in order to restore a negative frag amount. |

So I've been playing aow lately, It seems that these icons are extremely useful for identifying which mechs are on your team. I still like the idea of them being transparent. Another suggestion would be to reduce the chat/console icons size, which would perhaps look nicer. |

IMO these icons should be clientside DECORATE actors so that they can be modded. |
