Summary0003435: protected lump authentication failed - even with valid files
DescriptionEven though the files are valid, zandronum wont allow me to connect. This only seems to affect mac players and only certain patches. PC players are able to join without issue.
Steps To ReproduceJoin a MM8BDM server hosting the COMPETITIVECBMPATCHV1.3H while using a mac. (https://allfearthesentinel.net/zandronum/download.php?file=competitivecbmpatchv1.3h.pk3)
Additional Informationsometimes deleting the files and manually downloading them, rather than letting wadseeker fetch them, resolves the problem. That's not the case here.

It's undefined behavior. Different platforms/compilers do different things. You'll also get different results extracting such archives with various zip tools if you tried that.

A zip file is sorted alphabetically and since it is assumed that there is only one of each file which one wins in the sorting algorithm is determined by the specifics of the implementation of qsort. This could be mitigated but the fact is the pk3 is broken and it's not clear which of the two (or more) is the canonical lump. I don't know why these mistakes are so common (well I know it's because Slade lets such archives be made, but why don't authors instinctively delete the old/duplicate entries when copy and pasting).

I've observed people getting kicked from MAP31 in vanilla Doom 2 several times now despite them being connected and playing fine on the former map, usually MAP15. One time happened very recently, while the other time happened years earlier. I've got some screenshots taken from when both incidents happened.

Just to double check: are you 100% sure that the client who got kicked had the same IWAD checksum as the server? If the server used Doom2 classic and the client had instead the one from BFG Edition, it's pretty much expected.

If that is the case, I did not know that Zandronum allows clients to use IWADs from BFG edition of Doom.
