0003325: Polish translations are incomplete
There are (currently) two supported languages for appearance in Doomseeker: English and Polish (Polski).

English is the default language, and thus some dialogs and text may appear in English instead of Polish.

  1. Start Doomseeker.

  2. Navigate to Options → Configure (F5).

  3. Navigate to Appearance settings.

  4. Change the language to anything but English (in this case, Polski).

  5. Apply the changes by pressing "OK" or "Apply".

  6. Look for missing translations.

At least some tooltips, IRC dialogs, server filter, buddies, about dialog (1.2) and more may be missing translations.

With current workflow this ticket will be impossible to close. Translations are updated in bulk, after the commits that update the source text.

I actually noticed there's a seperate issue with language selection: it doesn't update all UI language elements without a restart, e.g. server filter. That's why I thought them to be more incomplete than they are in reality.

That's actually more difficult to fix than it seems. The program needs to be programmed with on-the-fly translation in mind, which also means that all text must be moved from .ui to .cpp.

Would doing the reverse (moving all text from .cpp to .ui) be possible and a cleaner approach? I'm okay with requiring a restart for changes. (e.g. OBS Studio and Mumble both require a restart when changing the UI language.)

Anyway, because of this mixup: Does it make sense to keep this ticket open anymore?

- Some strings *can* be in the .ui for greater convenience
- other strings *must* be in the .cpp,

and also

- all strings *can* be in the .cpp, even if convenience suffers,
- and some strings *can't* be in the .ui.
