0003020: GZDB: Testing map with "folder" as ressources will crash Zandronum
Hi everyone since a certain time I'm no longer able to test my maps on GZDoomBuilder with Zandronum 2.1.2 using folder as ressources because it will directly end up in a crash.
- Launch GZdoomBuilder.
- Select the Format: Zandronum: Doom 2 (UDMF).
- Convert any .pk3 wad into a folder and use it as ressource for this Format.
- Select the program Zandronum 2.1.2 for this Format.
- Just make a simple sector with a player spawn.
- Test your map.
- Zandronum will crash before loading.
- I've already informed the guys working on GZDB and they told me that the problem is from Zandroum, even if I'm right it wasn't happening in the old versions of GZDB. But I'm somehow sure that the problem comes from GZDB because Zandronum hasn't changed since a year and there weren't any crash like that before.

Since MaxED is not working on the original GZDB I'm using the GZDB(BugFix) version but I also tried with the last version of the normal one and the crash was still there.

I've tested with and without ZCC(1.5) so the problem is not from it.

The crash report is uploaded.

With Zandronum 3.0 the game start but the ressources from the folder aren't loaded which end up with monsters/weapons/items not spawning.

3:14:56 PM <WaTaKiD> P.S. Zandronum indeed crashes when you give it a directory in -file. Report that at the Zandronum tracker please.
3:14:56 PM <WaTaKiD> (or don't: Zandronum 3.0 works)
3:14:56 PM <WaTaKiD> looks like problem solved

I've tested it again and when I load it with Zandronum 3.0 the problem is that they tell me "Permission denied" this is why the ressources aren't loading, any idea on how I could fix that?

Is it resources not loading or a crash?

If the former, probably some duplicate resources. Loading a folder as a resource isn't really the best way of using resources for editing, I've always had problems with that.

The main problem is the crash happening when loading the folder ressources with Zandronum 2.1.2 and where you guys said that Zandronum 3.0 would work fine it doesn't load the ressources because of the "Permission denied".

So yeah there are 2 different problem for each Zandronum.

What I don't understand is that the crash started from nowhere.
I've tested it with older version like Doom Builder 2 and the crash is there when it was fine in the past.

Does GZDoom 1.8.6 behave differently from Zandronum 3.0 in this regard? If not, does the latest GZDoom work any better?

Yeah, there are no "Permission denied" problem with GZdoom 1.8.6.

Also I noticed that Zandronum 3.0 works fine with folder using the format:
GZDoom: Doom 2 (UDMF)

This is already fixed in 3.0.
