Summary0002989: Red screen just like actor would be constantly hit. Only on spectating.
DescriptionOk this is something actually hit me today when playing. I saw it million of times happening randomly. But never payed too much attention to it.

Player you spectate is hit. I think he does not need to be hit in moment you start spectating him but maybe? And you will now see what he sees with his eyes. But you will see as he would be non stop hit, you will see red screen blood shadowing his vision and the effect goes off sometimes after minutes or never till end of level. You can in this situation leave his vision and spectate by your self or go to other player. So this is not a big problem or some bug that ruins game play.

Now important:

Only in online game since spectating.
Only in complex (no other mods). Since tbh this is only online mod I play and can have some fun with it. Except my mod but for reasons it is not hosted.
So it's hard to say for me is that bug really only on complex or it might happen in other mods. I remember it happening many times but only on complex.

It does not happen too often, it's like, it will happen once on 10h of game play? (more like spectating someones game play)

I think this behavior did not happen actually on windows. But I played zandronum ages ago using windows so I am not sure.

Anyway this is the stable zan version behavior. Not sure about 3.0 since the basic flem complex servers stand on stable zandronum (not sure now since switching between proxies is not so friendly when you already wrote something, might check other time). But what is important it happens in stable version. So the bug is *old*.

Actually I can give you some screen shot or make some bad video (linux has bad vid recorders for games). Since when effect happens it leasts very long. Just to show how crappy it can look some times you can't see anything.
Steps To ReproduceLinux on complex in stable zandronum version
(Seems never happened on windows).
There is chance but not big that when spectating someones vision will be all the time covered with blood, like he would constantly take damage.
Additional InformationAgain this bug is nothing big. Just informing you it exist.

Linux zandronum 4.9.0-1-amd64 #1 SMP Debian 4.9.2-2 (2017-01-12) x86_64 GNU/Linux


I remember the bug existed also on stable version of Debian. Not sure tho it matters.

But not too fast. Just will set up recording and pass if it really happens. Might be weeks after report.

It's not something easy to reproduce. I have no idea what triggers it. Happens rather rarely.

I can confirm this happening rarely on complex doom (without the additional complex mods). The entire screen is covered in a red color with about 80% opacity for a long time, sometimes until the end of the level. I am not quite sure anymore since it's been a while since this last happened to me but I think this happens on windows too.

This only ever happened to me when I connected to a complex doom server that had an ongoing survival game and I f12'd the last remaining player. And for me it didn't happen only when the player was hit, but I think also when they picked something up. And I think the player had picked up the berserk item before I connected, not sure though.

Since this is a rare bug I doubt we'll be able to do anything about it until we catch it in a demo. It cold be an internet-related issue.

Happened in my mod. But compared to complex - much much lower probability.
It happened only one time.

It's not something bound to complex.
