Summary | 0000027: allow new players joining survival servers be able to instantly join the game instead of having to wait until the round ends |
Description | This is just a little suggestion to make survival servers more attractive to play on, particularly when large-scale maps are being played by few people. Most players don't want to wait 30+ minutes to join a game. And even if they leave and come back later, they might end up coming back right after the intermission screen, ending up having to wait for another round.
Basically, new players connected to the server will be able to join the game instantly instead of having to wait until the round ends. The server must somehow keep track of the clients' lives for each round so that they cannot simply disconnect, then reconnect and join again to play. The temporary tracking/list of IPs/lives would clear for each round. |

Now that I think about it, if players were to disconnect from the server or enter spectator mode by choice/accident, make them lose a life. AFAIK, that way they wouldn't be able to abuse the system if it were to be implemented.
But then again, there are clients with dynamic IP addresses, so that's another issue.
And should the server have more spectators allowed than players, make it so that when a player loses all of his/her lives by choice/accident, the next player in line is allowed to take his/her place, unless the next player in line already has lost all of his/her lives in the current round.

I don't like this idea, Skulltag has no real way of tracking who's who without a ZDaemon-like account system. Dynamic IPs make it too easy to death evade. |

I agree with you there.

I don't agree with this suggestion. Survival is fine the way it is. |

I think that this suggestion can be closed due to the fundamental flaw in it. It could probably be emulated by loading a mod. |
