0000227: Flag to force OpenGL users into the software user's freelook limits.
Even thought there is a way to disable freelook, it would make some mods/games less interesting. But that's not it. The thing is that OpenGL users can "cheat by looking all the way up or all the way down, reaching players that can't look at them in shafts, chimeys, tight places, etc.
It would basically be a DMFlag/Server side command that would deal with the following client flag on everyone:
"cl_disallowfullpitch"
This is essential for balance of the game when not all players have OpenGL.

I don't see this happening. I'm sure everyone today has a graphics card that supports OpenGL that is good enough to run DM, TDM, CTF levels. It's almost 2011 and you are telling me some people still can't run any application in OpenGL?

Why not?
Maybe those ones has so much old machines that they should buy something new, but don't have the necessary money, even if it's "cheap" (like 300 € or something).

This is assuming you have a PCI Express Motherboard.

Save $20 a week for a month and you should be good.

Well I can say "ok, that does the trick" if I'd like to have a pc desktop, but what about a notebook?

The advantage of opengl users over software users really isn't that great.

Closing this.

The advantage an OpenGL user has with the extra freelook is quite marginal, at best.

1) Auto-aim can compensate for this, with the exception of railgun weapons, which with the variety of weapons available anyhow, only makes a real difference in insta-gib matches.
2) It is extremely rare to ever see or have player on-top-of-player anyhow.
3) OpenGL is quite playable on modest hardware. If it isn't, there are drivers and wrappers available that could help.
4) Even if this were implemented, it would not do much to solve the "advantage" issue, as the OpenGL user can still see a lot more at extreme pitches than a Software user due to the way y-shearing is handled.
