0001726: Disappearing Textures on Zandronum 1.2 Over Time
Hello. First time bug poster. I seemed to have noticed an issue with Zandronum that happens over time (like a memory issue or something) if using hi-res textures. After a while, general "weirdness" begins to happen (such as a few textures having a few HOM effects, or the doomguy face is missing from the status bar). Usually, after a level change, the effects become exponentially worse (to the point that 90% of the textures are resulting in HOMs, there is no main menu text...only the skull...sprites disappear, etc.). I think the problem is with DHTP being applied, as I did NOT start experiencing any of these errors playing ZD w/Brutal Doom & any IWAD. After DHTP was added, while it seems dependent on the size of the level, after 2 large levels this "weirdness" begins happening. I am not fully convinced it is a Zandronum issue; it could very well be the video drivers, too (ATI Radeon 6800HD).
1) Make sure Zandronum 1.2 (windows) is being used; BrutalDoom v0.19; DoomMetal4.wad; DHTP PK3; Ultimate Doom
2) Launch Zandronum; start offline multiplayer w/4 bots (coop) (maybe 'summonfriend marine' or two)
3) Play UV skill level: E2M1 --> E2M2 --> E2M3 (almost always results in crash)
My last run (just happened) only made it 2 levels (E2M3 --> E2M4) before everything started popping out by E2M5. (Note on screenshot; those are black/missing textures...not just really dark ones)

Note: I just did this on singleplayer. Selected highest difficulty of "black metal" or whatever; every time I died (starting at E1M1) I used "nextmap" in the console. When I hit E1M8, I "changemap" to E3M1, then "E2M2". God mode'd, all weapons, and eventually my status bar along with my plasma rifle would disappear. Noticed a lot of "microstuttering" too as I entered new sectors (possibly because it was loading the texture?). Submitted new screenshots showing issues on multiple levels.

UPDATE: Found a workaround to force the textures to "re-load" and stop HOM'ing.

Options --> Video Settings --> GL --> Textures --> Enable Hi-Res Textures --> No --> Yes

Apparently "cycling" the textures causes them to come back (like a 'reset'). Is there some static memory limit to textures in Zandronum? Anyways, thought you guys would like the workaround in the meantime.

Does this happen in 2.0?

Unfortunately I do not know. I have some other tasks that are pressing now, so I am cool if you want to close this. I can always (re-open?) file a new one if I find problems with 2.x version.

Ok how about this

How is GZDoom 1.8?

That's a good question. I don't think I've ever used GZDoom before. I'll consider checking that out when I go through my "DOOM-Craze" again.

Since there was been no activity in over 3 weeks, I'm going to close this. Please re-open once you come back.
