Try using a fresh INI file? Rename the zandronum-<username>.ini to something else and try start it. |
I've tried renaming the INI file. No such luck, I'm afraid.
This issue only happens with ZDoom, Skulltag, and Zandronum. Other Doom source ports work fine.
This is also a fairly recent issue, as Zandronum would work fine without any issues until about a week ago. |
If Zandronum worked fine earlier, it's most likely an issue with your system configuration. Are you using OpenGL or software? |

I don't know if the cause for the crash is the same as OP, but since I updated my NVIDIA drivers to the very latest (331.82), Zandronum started to crash in OPENGL renderer on startup (same issue).
I tried it in the latest GZDoom and I don't get the crash.
Added CrashReport.7z as attachment, I added the ini file inside.

I have tried both OpenGL and software, and neither of them work for me. I get the same message with both:
"Code: C0000005 (Access Violation - tried to write address 0000003C)"
This problem occurred around the time I last updated my NVIDIA drivers, but I can't know for sure if it is the cause of the problem, since I have tried older versions of the drivers, and they don't work either. |

From the crashlog it looks more like a sound (FMOD) problem, while as for Alien it crashes in OpenGL. |
Turns out I had to disable any other sound drivers that weren't my default realtek drivers. I still can't run Zandronum in OpenGL, but it now works fine with software rendering. |

Have you installed QeffectsGL by chance? |

Just an update, I'm still getting startup crashes on OpenGL. I've included a crash report. |

Hello! Just wanted to add that I have the same issue exactly after updating to latest nvidia driver (331.82). I also uninstalled QeffectsGL before that, as I thought it could be the issue.
Regarding sound dreivers I'm running Xonar DG with unixonar driver and onboard audio disabled, and no issues there.
Sofware rendering works fine.
So the issue is probably with latest nvidia drivers.

Never mind. The problem seemed to resolve itself after I updated to windows 7. |
