0001470: Alternative Classes Selection for Multiplayer
The idea behind this is that classes are listed side by side (like resolutions) rather than using the current way when attempting to join a multiplayer game. The purpose of this is to allow players to quickly pick the class of choice between 3 or 4 columns list, rather than the invisible "one column" of the default mean, and having said option available in Multiplayer Menu as "Class Selection Method", between "Original" and "Grid".

I think the best way to do this would be with a list like with the new game menu. Having an option for choosing the interface is pointless though.

The New Game's Class Menu has some problems though: Limited class selection (unless this is being corrected already), big font and you may take too long to select the class you want many classes (like this mod that I know that has almost 80 classes), which makes it impossible to join a LMS during the countdown timer in most cases.

The difference of advantage between list and grid, I think, is that list is truly the most clean and useful for when there is ten or less classes. Where Grid is not as clean but is a need for when there are too many... The idea of an interface option could be to those not used to a new method.

But I guess any change that makes it easier AND faster to find the class you want is welcome.

On note: the PlayerClass choice in Multiplayer menu can remain the same.

Classes V6G, MM8BDM classes expansion mod that adds every single major and minor character, and a common mook (Sniper Joe). Yes, impressive number, I know.

Anyway, I trust you will find a good way to please everyone in regards to classes, be it a large number of classes involved, or bordering ten, or just very few.

I don't think it's a good idea to look into a solution blown completely out of proportion because one mod bloats the class list with like 80 classes.

I'd expect any sane class mod to keep it to like a dozen max, which should fit into a list if smallfont is used. If you need a grid to display all classes you probably are doing something quite wrong IMO.

Why not condense these classes into more compact ones and switch their skins/functions with decorate? 80 is insane

I don't think we should bother catering for such a ridiculous amount of classes considering how much work it'd need to get it done. There's more important stuff to do.
