DescriptionHere are some promotion and simplicity issues I have with the site, which, if addressed, could help bringing new players.


- no screenshots
It's all nice and good that there are few features listed on the main page, but... there are no screenshots or other visuals to show off the game? I sure as hell would like to see first what I'm downloading.


- joining the chat could be simpler
Secondly, the "chat" button on the site is set to launch a native IRC client on the user's computer. This eliminates possible folks who don't know IRC from joining the chat.
We could use the mibbit web chat widget instead. Mibbit is actually pretty cool, it would allow anyone to join by a single click (!) with no special programs installed.
All it takes to do is set the chat link to widget.mibbit.com/?server=irc.zandronum.com&channel=%23Zandronum (and make it open in new tab/window).

Don't we ban mibbit from our irc servers?

No. AFAIK the reason why mibbit was banned before the switch to Zandronum was ban evading possibility, which isn't a problem now that we're using a cgiirc module that sends the user's real hostname instead of generic one.

I meant to change the button's behavior to do just that, sending the user to an online client automatically joining the channel. I was unable to find a reliable client at the time though, although I did overlook Mibbit when I was searching.

Done as far as I can do. For screen shots just catch me on IRC with some screen shots to use and we'll figure out a way to put them up.
