0001018: Movebob handled incorrectly online
I noticed this while testing Zandronum 1.0 on a KDiZD server. For some reason, the client would start to mispredict its momentum when crossing different heights, for instance when moving across slopes and/or steps. I also noticed that the bob effect (movebob) would flicker around during these mispredictions.
1. zandronum.exe -host
2. Connect a client to the server and join the game with an emulated ping of 100.
3. Make sure that movebob is set to 0.25
4. Press +forward and +back quickly. Notice how choppy it is.
5. "map map01" in the console.
6. Press +forward and +back quickly. Notice how smooth it is.
The movebob issue is present in 98d, but I didn't notice the prediction errors in 98d from what I can remember, and I can't seem to reproduce them on my own server.
