Hexecution [Hexen DM]

Another DM wad for you guys, this time for Hexen. Figured trying something new. Project is open to anyone who wishes to contribute. Goal is a simple 5 good maps, here are 3 of them so far.

Of course, the maps are subject to change based on playtesting. This project is also altering the classes, which will be in a separate pk3. There are a variety of changes planned, but nothing too radical, mainly for balancing purposes.

The bloodscourge/quietus/wraithverge are still separate pieces, the classes will retain differences. The main changes will be weapon tweaks (such as Timon's Axe getting a slight nerf for 2 hit kills instead of 1 hit) that include mana consumption cost, damage dealt, projectile velocity, and explosion delay changes.

If you wish to map for this project, just post. But keep the idea that changes will be made in mind, and it's not likely the first iteration of your map will be the last.

Suggestions, comments, critiques welcome.

Nice start, I'll keep an eye on this after all.

If I ever do want to make a map though I'll probably wait until the much later versions when most of the kinks are worked out and the balancing is mostly done.

Your maps looks awesome, i like the first one ^^ Dat atmosphere! But it's possible to make a bridge with the zdoom/hexen format? =)

Yes, these maps are built in zdoom - hexen, which enables the use of 3D floors. Makes it a lot more interesting IMO to have those and allows for more interesting maps.

On that note I am hoarding another map for the project from Razgriz, and maybe I'll get around to making 1 more to make it 5 and then release it.

The weapons/class balancing will be a separate project.

If you don't me asking this, but why did you choose Hexen and not some other type of game? For example, why not Heretic or Strife?

That's mainly because you never played modded Strife Multiplayer. It's far more fun than Doom DM at least.

DBAB LMS - Pack made for Last Man Standing.
EonWeapons - Improve vanilla weapons and add stuff for kicks.
Progressive Duel - Leaving the old behind.

I think, the most interesting in Hexen (DM) is the originality of the weapons and the quality of the textures with this dark fantasy style!
Heretic is very fun but need the tome of power to get more "original weapon" and the textures are good but Hexen has something more, different about that! :)
I would want see more mods for Hexen ^^

I like the look of those screens; excellent texturing and the 3D floors look nice. I'm not a huge DM person but it looks to me like those areas are well-designed to frag a friend in. Makes me wish I had Hexen >.< Maybe one day I'll get off my bum and go buy it for stuff like this.

I was alerted that the link in the first post was dead, so I updated it. I also wanted to say that I have not abandoned the project, and will make an update to the pack soon!

Nice, i hope it will be played, i never played a dm hexen or heretic with people....even if i prefer COOP, i think DM can be a good moment of fun! :)
