Yea it's sorta like quake. it's got a really cool in game level editor. It's also delicious food.

I've played sauerbraten, I like it, I made a duel map in it just for fun. The coop stuff is really limited though, and the sounds in the game are kind of ridiculous.

Last time I played it the community was still really active, which is cool, seems like there were always a lot of DM games going on and I actually had a hard time keeping people out of the server I put up for messing around.

Played with it's coop editing feature a bit in 2009 or smth, then abandoned and switched to Doom :)

The actual game didn't impress me since coop is practically nonexistent and DM is too Q3.
