The developers develop Zandronum for iOS and Android Tablets "Bluetooth keyboard required to communicate with Zandronum windows or mac users"
so everybody will be able to use Zandronum!

and more profit for zandronum developers and engineers!

Even if it were to happen, it would be slow as hell, have NO OpenGL support, and probably no multiplayer ... Which is kinda the focal point of Zandronum.Disguise wrote: People and their fetishes for porting everything to every platform. Seriously, why would you need that? Isn't PC good enough?
--is the reason why iOS/Android Zandronum will never exist. There is no "profit". This is a free service. The developers have no gain from doing what they do other than the satisfaction of seeing our community thrive. And for that, we thank them as much as we can. Asking them to port the engine to a specific device is too much. Nobody is going to spend the 6 months of all-nighters necessary to create a working iOS/Android port unless you pay them. The developers are not going to waste their time porting Zandro to every specific device when there are much more important things to worry about, like network optimization and catching up with ZDoom/GZ.Power-X wrote: and more profit for zandronum developers and engineers!![]()
no no it's good enough but you know tablets are more portable than laptops!Disguise wrote: People and their fetishes for porting everything to every platform. Seriously, why would you need that? Isn't PC good enough?
Pretty sure you could run it on certain tablets anyway. I'm not sure if Linux executables will run/ can run on android.Power-X wrote:no no it's good enough but you know tablets are more portable than laptops!Disguise wrote: People and their fetishes for porting everything to every platform. that's all!![]()
Probably. But the only way I can see this happening is if you're running a hacked PS3/360 with Linux on it and just play the Zandronum build intended for Linux PC's. And even then, it will probably be really buggy and won't recognize all of the input commands or render properly due to all of the hardware being different from what a PC has.Power-X wrote: I think ps3 and Xbox 360 are powerful enough to play Zandronum.
And that's all assuming that PS3/360/Android Zandronum would even be capable of connecting to the master server. Which it probably wouldn't. Well, maybe the PS3 might (since, IIRC, its network structuring is pretty much identical to a PC).Medicris wrote:
- Console/tablet controls are crippling for the fps genre when the competitive opposition is using the standard keyboard + mouse setup. They'd most likely be wrecked and compelled to play on PC, defeating the purpose of porting it in the first place.
- Though X360 and PS3 does support USB keyboards, communication would still be problematic. Unless someone put VOIP in Zan (unlikely, we have Teamspeaks for that) and magically found a way to crack PS3/X360 voice codecs to communicate with people on other platforms.
- Also consider the security holes and management complications, what would everyone do if someone made an aimbot for PS3 or X360 Zandronum? Keeping banned people banned would be another issue.
