Capped, much better for competitive play.

I used to play uncapped like some of you, then I took a shotgun shell in the knee.

Uncapped all the way!
I don't want to be limited to a pathetic 35 frames, this is the future! We have rocket cars, get an entire turkey meal out of a weird machine we call the macrowave and Sir Clinton the 6th has been re-elected for the 9th time.
But in all honesty, I prefer to have as much vitality and speed in my system as possibly, without artificial limits.

I've been playing Doom online for a long time and after so many years of playing with a capped FPS, playing uncapped absolutely throws me on tilt. It doesn't feel like Doom, because Doom doesn't support uncapped FPS.
Don't get me wrong I'm all for giving people options but I like my Doom served with extra Doom sauce.

RE: Playing with Capped 35 FPS
I can only ever stand ZDoom's 35.6~ fps "cap" on my CRT monitor.
Builds of Doom that hard cap at 35 fps are more tolerable, but I personally use uncapped on my LCD to avoid headaches from the slow response time.
(some info on CRT & LCD here)
I always use vsync in GL, but mostly to avoid screen tearing, not really because it "feels" better.
