Auto disable jump depending on wad automatically

#1

Post by Zand » Wed Jan 27, 2016 12:36 am

I have noticed that Zandronum automatically disables jump (and im not sure if crouch too) if the wad was designed with classic doom mechanics in mind (no jump and no crouch), which is great because unless I disable the jump bind, I always end up jumping by accident, which can break the map (and disabling the jump each time is annoying).

But some maps that are designed for classic gameplay, aren't detected by Zandronum and allow me to jump. For example the latest map by romero allowed me to jump, and I forgot it was a classic map, so I jumped and took a card and I broke the map's path, I like ignored half of the map since I just jumped to take the card when you were supposed to do a lot of other things and not just jump. It's like if in MAP03 in Doom2 you just jump and go for the latest room directly.

I want to know how Zandronum knows if it has to disable jump automatically or not.

I hope you get the question.

Yeah it's acs or deh or something people put in that disables jumps or crouch, so it won't be in real old wads, maybe you can make a bind to disable jump im sure someone will know how.

It's usually defined in MAPINFO, which maps made for DOS Doom do not have. You can always type sv_jump 0 in the console if you don't trust yourself enough to not do it.

Im using 2.1.2 and sv_jump doesnt exist
How about a bing to toggle binds on or off?
like bind mouse2 "+jump" to bind mouse2 ""
With a key you would toggle this from one to the other
I dont know how to do any of this tho but you get the idea
