---[SYNOPSIS]---
Skirmish Duel is a twenty map pack of one-on-one maps made in the Boom Mapping Format (though these will work well in Team DM as well). The maps vary in style and game play, with some maps being entirely original in concept and style. On the contrary, some of the other maps play off of the design or style of other maps and are intended to either have a contrasting yet fun game play experience or possibly be an improvement of the original concept (you can call them homages, cameos, reduxes, whatever you'd like).

These maps were originally meant to be played with OS settings, but will work just as well with other setting combinations and are even more fun when played with wads such as Eon Weapons. The larger maps in the set will make for good 2v2 Team Deathmatches.

---[BUILD TIME / TESTING INFO]---
I've been working on this pack since August of 2013 (when the project was under the name of ArgDuel) and meant to release this into separate portions starting in Winter of 2013, but complications arose which hindered me from making a release until recently. I have tested all of these maps with numerous individuals in order to tweak and balance the layouts and item placements to a high degree (a thanks to all of those who tested - list of testers included within the credits file in the wad).

---[CREDITING INFORMATION]---
Check the credits lump enclosed within the wad file for details.

Some of those maps look pretty good with the simple approach to texturing. It's not everyday you see a release strictly for duel, good work.
Projects

EonDM - With Hatred as my sidekick.
RageCTF - Made 1 map and did much more.
DBAB LMS - Pack made for Last Man Standing.
EonWeapons - Improve vanilla weapons and add stuff for kicks.
Progressive Duel - Leaving the old behind.
IDL201X CTF - Maintaining since 2013.
Strife AA - Helped tested + 1 map

I'll note interesting layouts. These won't do too good for deathmatch, but they are pefect for duel. Variety of levels similar to those in GW series. Music fits, it's calm, which is important for duel map.

Nice maps, interesting and varied themes, and just the right amount of inspiration from other classics we all know and love. I'm big on simple but clean texturing too, and man this pack is clean. Very good stuff.

I like the new title screen, MAP05's probably my favorite map so far. I'd still like to go a few rounds against you on these maps, I've been busy with travel and work unfortunately...

I haven't got a chance to try 7,8, 10, 11 (looks interesting), 13, 14, or 15. Decent pack so far from the duels I've had on various private servers.

I think some maps from Chicago Project (e.g. MAP01) were pretty solid, it might add some variety if you brought a few from there into here if you're looking to add a few more maps.

There are some pretty interesting layouts in the wad. I have only played about 1/3 of the wad, but each match was enjoyable. I like map15 because it takes that god awful Gothicdm map that was in duel32 and makes it into something 20x more playable.

The biggest problems with the map I based this off of were that the map was too small in general and the hallways and passages were cramped and non-negotiable in many duels (plus you could also exploit the map and SR50 or Rocket off of a wall and outside of the crenelations and thus escape the map). Those were the main issues I sought to rectify (that and the original had rather mediocre spawns and a lack of items).

With some of these maps, I based them off of maps that had good concepts but lazy/terrible executions or executions that did not fully exploit what potential was there in the map. Other maps were loosely based off of texturing styles, architectural styles, et cetera, based off of more popular maps, or more freeform.

Got a bug to report. For some reason on MAP05, the sector that blocks off the green armor didn't lower all the way and left a 2px lip on the floor that prevented me from grabbing the shotgun/green armor.
The only limit to my freedom is the inevitable closure of the
universe, as inevitable as your own last breath. And yet,
there remains time to create, to create, and escape.

Escape will make me God.

After going through the maps, testing some changes, and making some tweaks, I present Release J. Check the changelog for updates. This will probably be the last update for the current set of maps (minus any breaks/glitches/flaws that may be present) as the next release will most likely have new maps in it.

Release J:

Edit: Made a quick fix to MAP05's additional items (the walls didn't raise to reveal the exit and additional items).

It's done; Skirmish is finally a finished product. I want to give a big shout out to all of the testers who took the time to play this wad and help improve the maps. Without critiques this wad wouldn't have gotten far, so I appreciate the work on behalf of the testing groups.

With that out of the way...

20 cool maps - great work, Argent!

Though I love making excessively large maps, I got to say that map05, Manzikert is my favorite in the pack. Besides duel, 4-player deathmatch in that particular map is chaotic and fun
Nice titlepic as well! Good job.
"Courage does not choose color, size or prime matter." - Army Men

Heretic - Silverspring CTF! 45 maps, 2-way, one-flag ctf compatible.
Questionable quality, but they look decent - rework on the way.

UAC: Close Quarters Combat CTF! 27 maps, one-flag ctf compatible.
Work in Progress - Thorough testing pending.

POSTAL BIRD - Water is disgusted
