Quakelive Players

Post by Fluffles » Fri Jan 31, 2014 4:04 pm

Ello fellas, I've bumped into a few doomers who also play quakelive recently and I was wondering if any of you guys are pretty active on the quakelive scene. I've been pretty addicted to it for a while now and would love to befriend a bunch of you, so if you play throw your username in this thread n I'll add you.

My username on it of course is Fluffles I was also known as Msppete for ages before I started the new account.

jarin27, dont play much nowadays, i was never this much active. But i love the competitive level on QL. I am watching always big lans and really enjoy it. Also sometime hop to server watch some pro. I like play AfterShock which is mod for open arena based on Q3, there is small comunity playing CA or TDM every day. I have ton of fun with this players. I always love ppl talkinng about QL how its dead, nobody plays. This is kinda funny to me if i compare to doom scene. Lol :(

edit: also i am waiting when qlprism release some client for QL, bcz i dislike this stand alone version and i am not even online anymore.

Yeah man I was sad when I couldn't see elo of players when the standalone came :(. I love the QL scene, only time you cant really duel is at times you shouldn't be up. Plus I'm pretty obsessed with the mind games they play in duels, best bit of it. I'm probably gonna get a pro subscription again soon so maybe we can play all the maps capo.

I played QL a few years back... but I couldn't really get into it and that was mostly because I like Q3A much more than QL. Yes, I like vanilla Q3A/Q3TA.

I still play Q3A to this day.

Nice man, yeah I grew up with Q3A, the one thing I hate about quakelive is no blood at all. Also no one plays longest yard anymore.

Hey!

I've been playing Quake 3 Arena but uninstalled it due to lack of addiction. Then I've decided to give QL Standalone a try, well it's the same shit, I really do not adhere to the style. Freelook, jumping, Rocket Launcher, vertical maps... on the other hand I love the statistics, the concept of the Elo rating system, the gamemodes, the rocket jumping and 99% of what Quake Live is.

But the dynamism of the game and the verticality of the maps make that you have to constantly switch weapons, alternate between Rocket Launcher and Railgun, jump every freaking times, while in Doom it's more frenetic, there are more confrontations, I don't know... I just can't adapt to it's gameplay.

QL's SSG is useful at all? Is it that it can kill with a single shot?

Well, sure it'll feel a bit different if we make a group mainly composed of Doomers and play all together, like the group I created on Steam based on CS: GO.

What do you mean? Did they remove the Elo from the SA version?

Cheers

Used to love q3a but never got to love QL that much.
But rocketlaunchers are my passion and they happen to suck skillwise in doom so i can't stay away from ql. Tf2 rl ftw though :d.

Meh, played QL a looong time ago. No offense but it's just not as good as Q3A. (not to mention moddable)

I played it for a while. There was a lot of tier slumming and a very unsportsmanlike community back then. Either way, it was fun. Mostly played FFA, CA and duel. Really wasn't hard to get to tier 4 when the majority of the players are in it.

I wonder how it is now? I haven't played since the stupid standalone client that broke QLPrism.

Either way, <3 that plasma gun

used to play (even on a clan) but stopped due to general lack of interest + lack of friends to play it with

I might pick it up again if there were some ppl to play with

Yeah, I'd play again if there was less solo roaming in pubs. Maybe get some duels going to shake off the rust.

I forgot my account though...

Yeah Pete I'm on there, I'm tier 4 on CA and CTF, haven't seen you online much though.

Been getting lots of practice on QL, suppose to be getting cab to play again more often don't know when though. We should def get some games going cause I'm tired of these elitist punks on the CA servers, Tier 4 players are just fucking children.

Heavy Q3A player (completed on Nightmare) but I couldn't get into QL. I think it's because it's browser-based, and I can't wait while a browser with ~100 tabs opens when I want to play a game. If it had a client...

... and what Suicide Slim said about its moddability: no custom maps = turnoff.

Just recently quakelive went off to being a standalone download and can no longer be played in an internet browser. Regarding new maps, there are lots of mappers in the community that get their maps added to the list of maps for ql. There is no set amount of maps for ql, it is ever expanding.
