Suggested addons

I had 4 things in mind which i would really like to be added as a feature.

First thing is the ability to have crushing sectors raise/lower by a given value, and not as low as possible. I need that alot, and i suppose alot of different people too.

Second thing is also about crushing floors, which is the ability to have ceilings crush up and floors crush down. Think about 3d floors.

Thirth thing is once again about crushing floors, which is the feature that crushing floors also stop when they hit 3d floors, or just raising floors in common. This feature is really neccesary if you have multiple levels. One of my maps has a hom now because i had to lower the sky to make it crush, which is really ugly.

Last thing would be a voice chat feature. This will probably get some negative comments, but i really like the idea.

I guess anybody that has idea's too can post them here. Here are mine.

For the first three suggestions, I may be wrong but I think you can do all of these using scripting within DB2 / GZDB

Voice chat, could you not use something like teamspeak or ventrilo? That seems the be the standard for most games that don't have native support. (Going back to my days of running Minecraft servers, we had a permanent vent server running alongside the server.)

EDIT** In fact, there is a lot of good info here on crushers http://zdoom.org/wiki/Crusher

No voice chat please... 30 persons talking at once isn't exactly useful and unless you make a ctf team you almost never need cooperation in any game..

there is a generic script for crush and moving floor/ceiling... you can make a simplified script doing a function that only will have what you want
Projects
Cursed Maze: DONE, V2.0
Zombie Horde - ZM09 map update: [3/15/13]

Well we kinda have VOIP servers for this kinda thing, like with teamspeak, mumble, etc.. But I dunno about it, added only for the sake of convienence? Otherwise it feels like a waste of time.

On top of this page, under the Zandronum logo, is a link to the Tracker, which is where suggestions like this go. Also, report bugs there.

This.

Additionally, having an embedded voice engine has been discussed and No'd several times already, with the general consensus being that 1) It's not worth developers' time and effort to implement and maintain, 2) 10-year-olds and mic-spammers imagine what that John Romero SNS server would sound like if all of those retards were spamming their mics in addition to binds, and 3) Anybody who wants to use ingame voicechat already has it, in the form of TeamSpeak or Ventrillo or Skype.

That's awesome, thanks for the link!

I suppose an SV code could be added to disable voice chats when false? (like sv_voicechat 0). Also a bind to turn it off would do the trick.

I know the tracker. I didnt know suggestions could be posted there too however. Thanks for the tip.

To be honest, Zandronum does not need voice chat added to it when there are so many, many applications designed to already fufill this role. The developers need to worry about getting Zan in tip top shape and as bug-free as possible. I doubt a voice chat function is anywhere near the top of the priorites list. (much less if anyone even wants to make it..)

why do people have so much trouble with teamspeak i dont get it, people throw pointles suggestions left and right as if the devs can make it happen by snapping their fingers.

If Zandronum were to do anything with VOIP, this looks promising.
