So basically Romero promised to show up on SNS and didn't.

So...

...what?

He was not OBLIGATED to show up on SNS mind you. He made that promise when? Nearly ten and a half months ago? Plans could have changed easily within that timeframe.

Let's also not forget that our SNS was a glorified clusterfuck of retardation. Playing in a crowded server with a truckload of randoms who you don't even know and who are just going to spam in the chat endlessely, or quietly playing doom 1 with a guy with whom you can talk about old times and stuff? What would you choose?

By this time I'm afraid to say the words "I'd be in the majority if I said that" because the tastes of the world around me seem to grow more and more stupid day per day, but anyway, I personally would have chosen the quiet coop.

Yes, I agree that not even saying something like "sorry pals but I can't show up on SNS because somethingsomething" beforehand IS kinda rude, however, do keep in mind that Romero is sort of a celebrity and probably gets thousands upon thousands of emails and etc. per day. He might just have forgotten. That stuff happens.

Before blaming someone, try to get into their position first. I know it's hard to completely do this because none of you will probably become as famous as he is at any point of time, but you can still probably do the "close enough" thing.

Why are people treating this like it was a choice between SNS and the IGN interview? Was it recorded during SNS?

But if it was a choice between the two, then Romero definitely made the right call: that video was totally worth it. (And SNS completely fell apart anyway, so it's kind of lucky that he didn't show.)

Yet there is a whole load of people who take this very seriously.

Like verily.

This post was not directed towards you specifically, but towards all of the people who think "john romero did not sns hes bad" in general. Your post simply happened to be there and I needed some quote material.

I apologize for any inconvience caused by this.

Well, yeah, it probably would be a clusterfuck, but it'd still be nice to say "sorry, different plans", or some contact between him and organisators to not make it clusterfuck. Just totally ignoring without a word kinda is impolite.
Shared keys will now be in Zandro! Thanks devs for their work, and users for the support!

It honestly seemed like he was just saying that as an empty gesture and didn't expect so many people to take it seriously.

Yeah this, also if he had have shown I'd have tried to reduce the clusterfuck. But w.e, it's done now.

He didn't really promise anything, did he?!
I can't remember the comment in question but I'm fairly certain the word "promise" wasn't there.

Which just goes to show that people are dumb and can't read.

Personally I'm glad he was a no show - too many fantards and would-be-trolls on the servers that night.

Aaaaand people impersonating him and spamming retarded binds over and over again (aka Monsterovich).

I'm sure Romero would be really thrilled to see that shit.

Back to the video....

The comments he made about having to spend time to catch up to the community level of mapping and scripting made me giggle somewhat!
