They are most definitely sprites, so it'll probably be software friendly(ish).

"Expertation" is not a word. May I suggest using the word "Mastery" instead?

Skyrish, why should he?

You rushing him will not make him speed up. He has other priorities as well and I'm sure we would all prefer that he takes his time on a project like this so there are less bugs to deal with.

Wouldn't you agree?

Nope, those are not 3D-Models.
OpenGL just needed for Muzzle Flash bright and explosive bright.

Yes I suppose he is a little late. But we're still only one week into August so cut Rico some slack. He's not some AAA gaming company that releases games on stone-carved dates. He's just one guy. And he's apparently got a lot on his plate because he has a life outside of Zandronum. (And it seems like some of you don't ... no offence ...)

If this as good as you have shown us then i'm glad were waiting almost a year for a good product of what looks to be amazing quality and obvious drive to make it to its zenith, Instead of releasing a buggy unfinished beta then waiting a year for the fix because the author lost their will to make it better. I applaud you for ignoring the pressure to release earlier than you intend to so you can give us the best quality you can.
