So yea... Any easy as cheese wads?
So yea... Any easy as cheese wads?
Any novice wads you know around? I have a friend who enjoys doom but in order to develop his skills better I'm looking for some easy wads (I know difficulties etc, but not all authors seem to have a good sense of what's easy on easiest difficulties :|).

For one, this should be posted in Zandronum Talk or Off-Topic. This message board is for mods and project development.
Don't have him play easy wads. Playing easy maps won't make him any better. You need to be able to learn how an enemy behaves and how to dodge attacks effectively. Same goes for using weapons. Real skill comes from playing the game with difficulty. Just have him keep practicing off and online and eventually his skills will grow overtime.

Marswar is a pretty simple map set. I'd start there.
Reinforcements: midgame Survival joining/respawning
Doom64: Unabsolved: Doom64 + Diablo II
ZandroSkins: a pack made by our community
AeniPuffs: 3D blood and bullet puff effects, free to use for your own mods
Squad Radio: a WASD-based radio chat menu, add your own custom sounds!
Mercenaries (on hold)

All he needs to do is beat the vanilla wads until he knows how everything works in the game, then he should challenge himself in those vanilla wads and he will be able to overcome anything.XCOPY wrote: Any novice wads you know around? No wad (unless on nightmare or a slaughter map) is particularly hard if you take it slow, due to the way the monsters are.
Dear LawCounsels,
To prove your compressor works, I suggest you try it on your posts and then post only the result.
We all know an ideal lossy compressor would output 0 bytes for your posts, so see if you can beat that.
Have a nice day.
Just have him play everything on the lowest skill, then move up to the next skill, and then the next... until he does UV on every level. Doom1 / 2 should be more then enough for him. If he isn't using strafe and doesn't look for secrets he's toast. If he doesn't know how many SSG shots kill each monster (excluding the 2 bosses) he should probably learn that.

well marswar is pretty much what i was looking for, thanks. :)

Dimensions of Time
Chex Quest 1-2-3
Stuff from like 1995
Possibly Slige maps
Doom Jr.
(don't forget the OTHER difficulties besides uv exist for every other wad too)

Not really I had no idea one could strafe in doom when I used to play it on vanilla at UVWatermelon wrote: If he isn't using strafe and doesn't look for secrets he's toast

Beaten Doom 2 on UV on keyboard only controls with missing like half of secrets. So strafe is not necessarily a key to success.
Eviltech. Seems fairly easy to me.
