How can i convert a mp3 file into a proper ogg file to work? I've tried converting it but it doesn't play in DOOM II. The name of my converted mp3 file is d_dm2ttl, the same name used by the original title music of the game.
What converter should i use?
---------------------------------
Never mind, got it working! I thought mp3 wasn't supported

For anyone who also happens to be confused, I use Switch to be useful for converting audio. It's free (unlimited-use shareware, though), and can convert and play back many different audio formats. Supports Mac OS X and Windows, I believe.

Have you tested your converted files(e.g mp3 >> ogg) in your wad? Do they work?

Er, um.
Seems Switch requires a paid upgrade to convert mp3 to ogg. Could've sworn I'd done it before, but I guess not.

Next time I'll check my crap before posting like an idiot.

This may do.
http://www.dvdvideosoft.com/products/dv ... verter.htm
It converts to many formats, and is 100% unrestricted freeware. This includes MP3 > OGG and back again.
There is also an all in one installer they have made that will install everything, but that's just optional for those who just want it all. Includes it's own launcher as well.

There will be a loss of quality because you are converting from one compressed format to another.

Audacity and Goldwave are your best bets, but DVDvideosoft's audio converter's pretty user-friendly if you're not into this sort of work.

Yea Goldwave is a really good program with lots of things to play in it.
Sometimes am lazy and just use FormatFactory to convert all kinds of stuff.

If the source is of good quality I doubt you will have any noticeable quality loss after recompression. Just remember to set the bitrate high enough and don't go for a compromise between file size and quality. Quality is more important than size.

Um OP, question?
Why on earth WOULD you do this? Because not only you're destroying the quality of your mp3 but it seems soo useless to do so... it's like zipping a zip file. It doesn't make sense... I'm not much of a mapper, so it might make sense but as an audio enthusiast, it doesn't make any sense whatsoever...

SUPER by eRIGHTSOFT is a great converter. The website and the GUI looks like made by a schisophrenic, but it's 100% free and it works in a very wide and customisable ways.

If you need it fast, you can also check out the following
Converter
I used it frequently during the last weeks and it has been operating quite smoothly....

its because OGG can shave off allot of filesize, like ogg's can be up to 75% smaller then a mp3 with minimum quality loss. 320kps mp3's always irk me because they needlessly bloat wad files and makes me not want to try said wads. if a wad is over 50mb i'm reluctand to download it, not that i have a small hdd its just my internet isnt very fast which in turn results in needless waiting and 90% of the time the wad turns out to be either realy dull or just downright bad, if a wad is over 75mb i wont even dl it at all.

Why did you register here just to make a 6-month bump about something the OP already found an answer to? :|
How did you even find this thread?
