[Feature Request] Fixing URLs for people who don't get it

It would be nice if there was a message stating when you put in a URL into the server that you have to have http:// at the beginning or else the URL you specified won't work. (or perhaps auto-append it to the URL if the admin doesn't specify the http:// portion)

A lot of people are careless and don't put in the http:// at the beginning of the URL and so I have to copy the URL, paste it into my web browser, find the WADs I need, download them, and save them to my WADs folder. It's a pain in the ass.

Now if only people would figure out that Wadseeker and GetWAD don't support Dropbox and MediaFire. Christ.

Ask your doctor if Zandrama is right for you. Side effects include butthurt, loss of sleep, loss of ego, embarrassment, and social withdrawal.

One, feature requests are to be posted on the Tracker. Two, not everyone has a dedicated webhost to post their wads on, so they put the URLs onto a site like Dropbox and Mediafire. Three, Dropbox works just fine with WadSeeker (just tested it to be sure). Four, not being able to download a wad because the URL doesn't contain HTTP:// sounds like a problem with WADSEEKER/GETWAD not something Zandronum should be handling.
Oh yea and in IDE atleast you can just highlight the server and press W to send the URL to your default web-browser.

I was unsure where it was supposed to go so I took a guess. I don't have a tracker account so if someone wants to post it there, go ahead.

It may be the case that they don't have a dedicated webhost, but they're posting URLs that use https://www.dropbox.com/sh/1234567890/ and thinking Wadseeker will parse that HTML, but Wadseeker doesn't support https. However a direct link (http://dl.dropbox.com/u/23798723/wadfile.wad) does work because it's a direct link to the WAD.

Mediafire doesn't work at all because Wadseeker can't parse the HTML for the link to the WAD.

I was figuring adding this on the server side because then it will fix the issue from one end. Another possibility is that DRDTeam and Bond should update the launcher to fix that issue.

Why use dropbox for a wad when you can use http://wadhost.fathax.com/? If it is a project that is updating frequently, use the temporary hosting, and it if it not going to change, and you have a proper txt file, use the permanent hosting.

Not to mention there are tons of other hosts out there; most of which I've listed here: http://camoy.sdf.org/projects/#wadlist
