Right, and I think it's also the deal with other players not being able to connect.

How do I fix this?

list the wads that are loaded as the server starts
it'll look like this:

Code: Select all

 adding /media/ext4derp/zandronum/zandronum.pk3 (551 files)
 adding /media/ext4derp/iwads/doom2.wad (2919 lumps)
 adding /media/ext4derp/zandronum/skins/Lunchables.wad (9 lumps)
edit: also, given that "wads" segfaults skulltag, it's pretty evident that this is zandroderp

adding C:/Users/Dan/Desktop/desktop icons/Extra Stuff/IWAD/Ports/skins/ST_Seenas.pk3:ST_Seenas.wad (54 lumps)

adding C:/Users/Dan/Desktop/desktop icons/Extra Stuff/IWAD/Ports/skins/ST_Synas.pk3:ST_Synas.wad (54 lumps)
adding C:/Users/Dan/Desktop/desktop icons/Extra Stuff/IWAD/skulltag_actors.pk3
adding C:/Users/Dan/Desktop/desktop icons/Extra Stuff/IWAD/skulltag_data_126.pk3 (2449 files)

The last two .pk3s I added manually, the other stuff was somehow loaded onto the server. Guess it's supposed to do that.

How exactly are you staring the server and how exactly are you joining the server?

I make a server via the "Create a Server" option in DoomSeeker, and I also join the server by choosing "Join Server in the Zandronum server menu, where it says who's on the server.

Please try to join the server with Doomseeker instead.

What about other players who try to join the server but can't?

I remember that I had a SIMILAR problem like yours back in late 2008/early 2009, my problem was that my IWAD was a different version from the server's IWAD, prevented me to join the server successfully. The old Skulltag webpage provided a program by Zdaemon to patch IWADs to the latest version and this IWAD patcher solved my problem. Currently I cannot find in my hardrive this program that I used back then but just in case you can try the following:
To check your IWAD(s) version:
http://russell.slipgate.org/iwadverifier.php

To patch your IWAD(s) to the latest version:
http://www.doomworld.com/vb/doom-genera ... d-patcher/

Hopefully this can be useful to you.

In the past, I was able to make a server just fine without the error, this time it just came out of the blue. All of my IWADs are the latest versions so that isn't the problem.

Note my first post on this thread; I mentioned that I had an official, up-to-date doom2.wad, which was the IWAD I was using.

Can you post the full console output from the server as it loads up?

What does this have to do with my request? I'm trying to help you, but can't if you ignore my requests. You should give me the benefit of the doubt and assume that I know what I'm doing.

I don't even understand why you are asking this. Other players for sure can't join your server with the "join server" button in your Windows server console.

Oh no no, I did try what you said and I got in the server just fine. I was just worried that other people weren't able to get into my server because they were getting the same problem I was getting.

I didn't mean to upset you.
Konar6 wrote: Can you post the full console output from the server as it loads up?
Here you go.

compatflags changed to: 0
dmflags changed to: 2117764
dmflags2 changed to: 64
Connect (v1.0-alpha): 192.168.1.111:10667
Authentication failed.
192.168.1.111:10667 disconnected. Ignoring IP for 10 seconds.

I'm not sure if I should've posted more or less, but that's what I assume to be the most relevant of the output.

It's enough to confirm what I was thinking.
You are using an old alpha version. Download 1.0 final.

Well, then say so instead of completely omitting an answer to my request and replying with a counterquestion. The testing with Doomseeker was crucial to pinpoint the problem. Knowing that Doomseeker works, I can say that you are using an outdated 1.0-alpha version where the "Join server" option in the server console didn't work properly (which Konar6 essentially stated one post above, after you supplied the information you were asked for).
PortalFreak996 wrote: I was just worried that other people weren't able to get into my server because they were getting the same problem I was getting.
Are you sure that they got the same error? This would only be the case if they were exactly the same outdated alpha version you used. With any other version they should have gotten a different error.

I'm not sure if that's the error they got, I'm just assuming.

I'm pretty sure that they got a different error ;) (and that error would also have revealed that you are using the wrong Zandronum version). Anyway, upgrading to the final version of 1.0 should fix your problems.

I did last night.

And I still get the error, unless I join through Doomseeker, of course.

If the "join server" button still doesn't work in 1.0, please create a bug report at the tracker and post the console log (at least the part that shows the wad loading) of client and server.
