Why no one has been making invasion wads now?

Invasion is my favorite game mode for doom an it is awesome plus I'm the only one who is still playing them on my YouTube channel I can list the ones I have
Armageddon invasion 1
Armageddon invasion 2
Invasion unleashed
Invasion unleashed Legion of sin
Delta alpha invasion
Futur war invasion
Chaos from hell invasion
Beast incarnation invasion
Inferno invasion
Complex doom invasion
I just listed the the most best ones to my opinion any questions would be nice to see why invasion is not being made anyone. Btw I think the zan community needs more invasion wads say anything you want about this topic

People probably got tired of it, or just are okay with the wads we already got. I would also like to see new Invasion maps but to be honest i doubt there will be more than a couple in the coming months.

Something that might help calm your thirst for Invasion gameplay, is my Supreme Invasion mod: https://forum.zdoom.org/viewtopic.php?f=43&t=61047
It works on most maps, and with any mod, so there's quite a bunch of invasion content there.

There's also ZDaemon invasion: https://www.zdaemon.org/?CMD=news_item&ID=1373 which is a pretty good invasion map-pack and even works in ZDoom too.

Most invasion mapsets are bad, with no sense of cohesion or difficulty progression, and those that are good take a lot of time and effort to polish. Most prominent Invasion mappers stopped producing new maps as well (Alter, dj-jo, Moti, Wario etc), which certainly didn't help.

But all in all, I'm with you on this one. I really want to see an invasion renaissance someday.

Alter is still making maps, albeit not Invasion ones - if you play the coop community WADs that get released to the idgames/ archives you can find his maps there.

I would too. Alpha/Delta, Armageddon, and UTNT are good but only having those as the good ones only goes so far.

There's like 1 good stock invasion map (D2INV5 I think, the one with the Cyberdemon "boss"), and that's 1/5.

If only there were some team out there that did megawads of weird, obscure multiplayer game modes...

Seriously though, if you guys get around to it, can you look into making it compatible with Odamex? There hasn't been any invasion mapset that is compatible with it even though it is capable of having one.

I think a lot of it comes down to motivation.. Making a good wad takes a lot of time. Even the trashiest joke wad has several hours placed into it. Id argue that making a good invasion level is actually harder than making a good survival level due to the pacing requiring a lot of testing. I don't think someone would put that hundred of hours into it if barely anyone will play it as opposed to something more popular.

The main motivation of a lot of map makers is popularity, they hope and want their wad to be the next flavor of the month thing.

You might like Boss Battles. You play it in coop mode, but many of the maps are a lot like invasion.

An important aspect is how terrible the invasion system is. To have something workable you need to build it yourself or use someone else's custom implementation if you can find one that works well.

It is kinda ironic that Invasion made through ACS has less chances to break than the internal one, knowing what to script in ACS you may never get a single server crash when playing it and probably keep it stable no matter the version of the source port.

Stronghold is probably the best implementation of the Invasion gamemode I've ever seen, code-wise. It can probably be easily re-programmed to function just like Skulltag Invasion too, without Stronghold's objective-based gameplay and such.
