Constantly desyncing from servers

#1

Post by Dan Drivers » Thu Nov 09, 2017 11:45 pm

Whenever I play on a coop/survival server I always end up desyncing and either getting kicked due to dropped packets or just being totally unable to play. I'm always able to join from the start and play for a few levels just fine, but eventually I start to desync and I can never recover, even if I leave the server and rejoin I'll desync almost immediately and either get kicked or stuck in desync limbo, or be stuck forever "waiting for server". It doesn't matter what wads I'm using, it always seems to happen eventually, whether I'm using a big flashy gameplay mod with a big level or just playing a sub 100 enemy level with no gameplay mod, I always desync. It's not the servers I'm playing on because everyone else is running the game perfectly fine.

My connection is high down/up and I've never had any sort of connection problems with anything else. I've also been able to play zandronum perfectly fine a few months previous. I can't remember exactly when this started to happen, but it was definitely sometime during 2.1.2.

Is there currently a difference for you when playing with 2.1.2 and 3.0? Have you tried a fresh .ini file?

The former is good to know in order to pinpoint the cause of the problem, and the latter is good to try because it works for zan like rebooting does for windows; doesn't always do the trick but it's always worth trying.
