I've been concidering trying doing 3d models/MD3's for doom. Is there any good tutorials on the matter? Note that i intend to use 3ds max for the modeling/animation if i get around that.

I suppose any modelling tutorial on youtube is fine, right?
The only thing different in Doom is that it has to be converted. As far as I know there's only a Blender plugin for that, found here https://forum.zdoom.org/viewtopic.php?f=37&t=35790

I heard there is also plugins for 3ds max. But i work with 2015, not sure there is any for that... And im not too sure how MD3's work in the first place.

I'm starting to think the idea might have been bad cause the resources seems limited AF

Use Misfit Model 3D. It natively supports MD2 and MD3, no conversion required.

There are 100 tutorials on YouTube, but if I ever wonder how to do something, I usually open up a Quake 2 model and take a look at how it's textured or how the frames are animated.

Thing is that im following private lessons on using 3ds max and once i get to making characters and such i'd love to put my knowledge to use. (if it doesn't work ill just go pre-rendered i guess...)

If I remember right, some ancient 3dsmax version supports 3dsmax md3 import-export plugin. However, large amount of people around here use Blender for both modeling and exporting Md3s for Doom. You might want Blender for the last option at least to export models with no problem.

Did you try Milkshape 3D and Q2 Modeler? mixed with ur 3ds max, I found a topic on ZDoom Forums talking about 3D modeling in doom, here is the topic: https://forum.zdoom.org/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=14893

Q2 Modeler is old and outdated, Milkshape is 30 days free license, you can buy the license or.... *Cough* *Cough* nevermind.

In my case i got Blender and milkshape 3D switch between them according to my needs.
