So today I'm playing priv in Stipsi's Private IDL server, and guess who connects? Yes, everybody's favourite 'RCON abusing exploiter' Galactus. Isn't this guy supposed to be banned still, apparently so yet he is still joining the server, and apparently can also access GV servers too...

So I join #staff to bring it up:

It takes a while for staff to finally respond and take action, but it's sad that this has even been able to happen in the first place. Personally for me this is ban evading, and should be treated as such. I'm tired of all these pathetic bullshit excuses of 'It's not my fault, there is a bug in server'. Why are you even trying to connect to servers knowing you are still supposed to be banned, never mind actually gaining access and playing them? It's a slap in the face to all the clean players around here that you are sat here exploiting the system and pretty much getting away with it^

Initially I was defending Galactus, but damn, that really doesn't help your case dude...

edit: For the record, yes, that is ban evading. Same thing happened to Ral and his ban got extended.

First he exploited a client bug. Then he exploited the admins' generousity and dodged a lengthy ban. Now he's exploiting the fact that his current IP isn't on the banlist yet. You give him an inch, he takes a yard. And then a mile.

It's like if he escaped prison and said "Hey, they left my cell open and nobody was watching me, that basically means they want me to be free now!".

Normally I don't give a shit about who gets masterbanned because it really doesn't affect me, but LOL I say bump Galactus's ban length up to a year now just because I wanna see him cry about it.

Ban evasion. The user under the ban is supposed to be unable to play.
Regardless if it's the master acting up or not, the user takes that risk by joining a master broadcasted server under a ban. Should be common sense.

Why do people even evade using their real nicks?

If I evaded just to be able to play the game, I would have at least used the name "Player" and not talked to anyone, much less brag to everyone on IRC that I found some kind of loophole in my punishment. I realize aliasing is frowned upon in priv, but he probably should have played somewhere else if he was dumb enough to evade and at least wanted to get away with it.

My servers are broadcasted on the masterserver, so yeah it's ban evading.

I was late for the precedent drama so I didn't know if I could trust or not this guy. Now I have the certainty.

Apparently, he's basically doing the exact same thing: Exploiting stuff. And I agree with Cata here; I was sort of defending Galactus in a way for exploiting a bug for satire. Apparently, he's completely ignoring what has happened before, so for that I say: Admins, cleanup time! (of which; good job!)

What part of "You've been BANNED for an X amount of time from the master server." is so difficult to understand?

Everyone's already come to the conclusion already, but just a friendly reminder from staff so we can end this on a solid note:

We're still discussing ban lengths and punishments, but this part is pretty straightforward.
Ban evasion automatically warrants a 3 month extension to your existing master ban. It doesn't matter whether you knew you were evading or not, or whether it was "accidental" or not, or whether it was because of a bug or not.
(And if it was because of a bug, to broadcast it loudly and then continue playing? Really?)

If you step into a server you're supposed to be banned from, there's no second guessing. You're getting booted harder. So don't do that.

Welp, Galactus really screwed the pooch. Just because they didn't put your ban on the list yet doesn't mean you're welcome to play. If you still wanna go play some games, go host your own server off the master and invite your buddies. Otherwise, go find something else to occupy your time besides lamenting over a ban you deserved.
