Zandronum and Skulltag staff.
http://zandronum.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=28
As you see here, it will be much different from Skulltag staff. And here I will explain why.
The sarcasm is no more. That got us in a lot of trouble. This included "funny" youtube videos in reply to someone being immature, sly remarks, name calling. All of that really brought our reputation down.
Hiding things made a lot of people wonder and ask what we were up to behind closed doors. That's not going to happen anymore.
Less staff conflict. (Hopefully). There was always a lot of tension between the staff, and even more between the staff and the community. With a more friendly attitude, this will prevent all the negativity we got from people and even our own staff members.
If we have a disagreement, in a civil manner, lay it all out on the table, agree to disagree and respect others opinions.
Feel free to add anything. :)

People will still create those kind of threads. Could be wrong though.Zap610 wrote: No more "funny pictures/videos/music/etc" stickies please.

RE: Zandronum and Skulltag staff.
Hey there guys, it's Goliath. I've been idle/haven't been around these past few days due to two work shifts to pay off for some debts. Glad to see that you guys took the first step by starting up the forum, and I hope that you guys end up going somewhere with this. I'll check around from time to time to see what's been going on and about, and if anything I'll try to lend a hand to whatever I can do. I'll probably post some more comments and feedback later or something. In any case, good luck, and best of wishes from me.

Stickies should always and 100% be important, must-see information, not some dumb picture crap or IRC crap that isn't even slightly entertaining. Hopefully this stuff won't have this like Skulltag did.

If we are gonna have a youtube videos thread, at last I hope it doesn't turns out like a post count whore heaven, that don't post anything interesting, or even double post.Hammerfest- wrote:"No more "funny pictures/videos/music/etc" stickies please."

I'm pretty much in agreement with most of this, especially the "LOLWUT videos/music/random crap". However, it'll still be inevitable that people will create these kinds of threads; but if they do, let's be sure they are at least moderated tightly.
On a related note, I did find the LolPics to be slightly amusing, but they get stale after a few laughs.

RE: Zandronum and Skulltag staff.
I have to suggest a retard thread to help contain the madness. I also feel it would be inevitable that threads of that type would creep up. You'd be better off trying to regulate them then abolish them. Just my opinion.
I'll keep an open mind with lol threads, up until they become post fodder. As long as the thread can remain tasteful or relevant, I'd glance at it and maybe contribute every now and then.

They got stale 2 posts after the OP, most of the stuff was really dumb crap that even 10 year olds would find most of the crap that was on the Skulltag one slightly entertaining, if not 'funny'. However, I won't be surprised if someone throws it in, it just doesn't deserve anything like a sticky or an announcement, etc.Hellstorm Archon wrote: I'm pretty much in agreement with most of this, especially the "LOLWUT videos/music/random crap". RE: Zandronum and Skulltag staff.
If there's enough appeal to the average user, nobody will let it fall off the first page. :P
The issue arises whenever you make a thread for "funny" things. A picture might (and often does) get psoted because it's funny to one person (the poster). You either have to police the topic closely (which can get hairy when "funny" is in the eye of the observer) or create two threads, one for things that stand amusing on their own, and the other for rage comics and other memes that were possibly funny once in the past. (Not that I'm biased, of course!) Sensible users can simply ignore (mark read) the topic they don't care about.

Good luck to everyone in this project! I really like the idea of this fresh start! Hopefully people will be able to think of Zandronum and Skulltag as two different things.

Yeah, the better solution is to not allow threads like that to crap up the forum in the first place. There's no reason to allow those sorts of pointless spam zones.

There's always the concept of a subforum where there's no postcount increase when it's posted in.

I thought the point of those threads was to keep the spam contained and not infecting other threads.
RE: Zandronum and Skulltag staff.

If you keep asking then you won't get that "damn shoutbox".
Really there's no need for it.

RE: Zandronum and Skulltag staff.
Sofar the guidelines/rules are good enough to live by with.
Im sure not all sarcasm can be abandoned, but it would be great if all negative-sarcasm could stay away.
I disagree about igor's post that post-replies will not show up immediately, and has to undergo 'an approval' first from Staff.
But i guess, its needed to be ensured that no unwanted or inappropriate posts gets online.
All other rules, or guidelines, i would vote for it too.
