Opinionated Discussion

Someone had asked me to bring this back from the dead so I thought why not?
Anyone remember this sub-forum on Skulltag forums? I'm thinking about bringing it back, but would like the communities opinion (See what I did thar) on this, as well as the staffs.
I remember a LOT of discussions being controversial and people getting pretty heavily into it. I say it's cool as long as it stays civil and mature. What do you all say?

Your opinion is wrong and only mine is right.
As for this, I can't even recall there ever being such a sub-forum. Though the example at the start of my post is probably a pretty stupid thing to do if it does get back.

Edit: I immensely support this, as long as: Restricted the users from posting ignorant and unintelligent messages - meaning they have to pass a maturity test and after completing and getting approved, they are require to join a usergroup in order to post there. Once you fuck up, you're removed and unable to post again.

I got quite a feeling that this will end up like the previous opinionated discussions, that is, devolve into flamewars with administrators left with no option but to trash the forum again.

This is asking a lot from this community.
That being said I support it, but I'm just wondering how useful it will be considering the sheer amount of dipshits and "trolls" there are here. Most people here probably couldn't even back up their arguments with anything substantial but I guess we will see!
Though I agree with Decay here on the '>civil and mature' part, I would support it as well. I'm pretty sure that the community today isn't as bad as it was before back in the day when it was up.

It's not that I'm against people sharing their opinions, but I always assumed Staff Discussion exists for opinionated discussion. It just seems redundant to me.

I totally agree with Decay here. If we can't discuss polarizing issues without modifying forum rules (which I believe is the reason for the new subforum), we don't deserve to discuss them at all.
