MERRY CHRISTMAS![/size]
Mike12 recently got a hold of an NES Zapper and did some sprites. Being the giant Nintendo fanboy I am, I jumped on the opportunity to both code a weapon reminiscent of the ol' toy and make a quick level to demonstrate it in action.
I'm not a very good mapper, but I think it gets the point across nicely--do what every 80s kid wanted to do and wield the gun as an actual weapon!
Inside of the .pk3 is a full set of sprites and a sample application of the weapon. Some of the sprites aren't used, but were included for the sake of posterity anyway, as well as for the sake of people who want to nick the sprites for their own usage.
WARNING: Not for people with eyes sensitive to flashing lights.

Brief but awesome.
The black flash on fire is really grating on the eyes though, especially against the bright colors of the nes map.

I did not actually expect to need to update this, haha. The (hopefully-final) build is up, and hopefully it won't need any more changes after this. :P

1: Fixed fence floating in the sky.
2: Fixed bright orange texture in the boss area.
3: Fixed towers having scrolling floors.
4: It's no longer possible to bypass the boss fight. Being able to bypass the blue door and red door were left in because sequence breaking is fun.
5: Another secret has been added to make UV runs a bit more manageable.
6: The boss now has a nasty extra gimmick on UV/Nightmare difficulty.
7: Damage increased from 15 to 16 for no other reason than so I can say its damage is 16-bit.
8: For c̶a̶s̶u̶a̶l̶s̶ people who don't like mashing their mouse keys, an option for automatic fire is now implemented. It's slower than semi-auto firing, but HEY
Thanks for playing, lads. Back to work on DemonSteele and Push for me.
Well, unless Mike has other ideas and surprises me with some new sprites...

Funny you should say that, actually, considering I just found a (sadly, broken) NES in my closet.

Too bad you didn't live near me, I'd be able to repair it. Still got an NES here, running very well, no blinking or needing to mess with/blow on the cartridges either. Still using the original gold-plated 72-pin connector as well.
Fantastic wad by the way. Lots of fun, and I recognized a lot of the games which the tiles came from. If you need a higher quality sound of pulling a Zapper trigger, let me know! I'll record mine.
