I'm using Zandronum 1.2 and Samsara 3.0. Not sure what the problem could be.
Please load Samsara 0.3 first, THEN then Burl Tumd add-on.

What's happening is that the Assault Rifle isn't recognizing the Counter it's inherited from, which isn't in the Burl add-on but is in Samsara 0.3.
So it gets hung up on that.

Okay, and if I was loading them in the right order, yet I was getting the issue, what then?

Also dunno if this information will help, but I'm loading them with ZDL 3.2.2.2. But I'm pretty sure most people use ZDL to launch stuff anyway, so that's almost certainly not related. Probably.

Then Zandronum is insisting on loading Burl first, for some reason.
You may have to use a launcher.

Yeah, edited the previous post with the fact I'm using a launcher right as you replied. Still don't know what could be causing it.

EDIT: Realized the issue. Apparently my 3.0 version is corrupted and won't load. May have not downloaded correctly or something. Should've checked if that was the case in the first place.

Somebody asked me for a short preview on Prisoner 849, so have some very rough pre-alpha super-unpolished downright-ugly footage of her using the Redeemer.

Behold the wonders of a poorly-ripped sprite cut off by widescreen.
Dodging seems to be working fine, though!

BTW, what would be her instagib weapon? Enhanced Shock rifle? (not really familiar with Unreal, only UT)

I'll try to guess the weapons loadout.

Starting: Dispersion pistol and automag.
I: Razorjack
II: ASMD
III: Flak cannon
IV: Stinger
V: Eightball
VI: Green Exploding Shit BioRifle
VII: Redeemer (Or minigun, depending on the CVAR)
Instagib: (sniper) Rifle
Unique: Dispersion pistol upgrade. (Or Power amplifier)

Or flashlight-lolno.

Also happy late birthday.

I made a patch for Samsara. It replaces Samsara_Armormode 2 (Samsara_Armormode 1 is better anyways, in both balance and feel).
It's a Heretic Armor mode:
Green Armor is Silver, protects 50%
Yellow Armor is Yellow, protects 66%
Blue Armor is Orange, protects 75%
Red Armor is Red, protects 87.5%

What do you guys think about the idea of Gordon Freeman (HL1) as a Samsara character (not begging for him to be added, just a consideration). I considered him because fits into the mod's criteria, his weapons are fair and suitable for multiplayer and the Half Life's singleplayer is similar to DOOM/DOOM 2.

Made up a rough idea of weapons:
Slot I: [maybe Hive Hand or Snarks]
Start Melee: Crowbar
Start Weapon: Glock
Slot II: SPAS (double-blast secondary fire is questionable)
Slot III: 357 Magnum
Slot IV: SMG with grenade launcher (may seem like Security Officer)
Slot V: RPG (laser tracking in DOOM engine?)
Slot VI: Tau Cannon (secondary fire jumping is questionable)
Slot VII: Gluon Gun
Berserk: Long-jump Module
Instagib: Crossbow (no-scope explosion is questionable)

I'm not asking for Freeman to be put in Samsara, I'm asking 'Would he be compatible with Samsara?'

Literally the only thing separating the original Half-Life from Quake and Unreal gameplay-wise is its physics engine. Doom doesn't have physics. Thus Gordon becomes redundant in a sense.

Also, what would his role be?

HL1 simply had motionless objects fall to the ground while HL2 had physics written all over it.

His role might be 'Survivor' to express that he, a physicist, transformed himself into a super-soldier during the game, scavenging experimental and alien weapons and using his wits and environments to survive a cluster of aliens and highly-trained squads of soldiers through a vast science complex and alien homeworld, doing what's necessary to survive.

It'd work, and I'd love to see it, but as an addon class rather than being included in the main package.

Specialties could revolve around the HEV suit and his versatility: even a small bit of suit energy makes a good difference in his defense, he can have some natural resistance to poison damage and damage sectors like nukage, and he has a wide variety of weapons that makes him good at everything but great at nothing. Basically, he becomes a jack-of-all-trades.

His defense would be decent, his speed would be relatively low unless sprinting (which runs off of the HEV's recharging aux power meter), he has weapons that fill all roles decently but he can't carry as much ammo as the others (plus will be reloading more), and he has some specialty equipment like the jump booster and gravity gun (which could be used to grab weapons/ammo, items, and toss explosive barrels or even weaker enemies around). Hell, if you really think he needs it, he could get a location damage system... though I don't think that can be implemented without editing monsters directly (Can't just scan for where on the sprite's bounding box a puff hit, right?)

The biggest problem is that his unique features would all probably be a bitch to code in, and balancing him so that he's not too good at everything so as to overshadow specialized roles could prove difficut. After all:
  • He can't outdo Doomguy or Parias in sheer burst damage
  • He can't out-tank Chexguy and his insane defense
  • He can't be as well-stocked as Corvus (though the Tome of Power alone makes elf boy here quite special)
  • He can't be 100% accurate with everything like BJ (only certain weapons of Gordon's can be that accurate, and they're either naturally slow or must be fired slow like the 9mm pistol)
  • Can't demolish crowd as well as Duke, nor have anything as mobile as the Jetpack (which tends to be banned anyway)
  • Can't constantly vomit bullets from every weapon like Security Officer (who is probably the closest to Freeman out of all the others)
  • And of course can't have the artillery or rocket jumping prowess of Ranger (nor the Quad Damage, but that's not going to happen anyway)
And that's not even counting Prisoner 849, whose role/specialization isn't known yet.

Hmm. I see what you mean. I was thinking along the lines of HL1 only because HL2 was a lot different in terms of gameplay and it was made when the game industry began to have big ideas about their games.
For the damage sounds and taunts, maybe the suit can do the babbling for him.
Maybe I can look into DOOM modding and I could see if I could make the Freeman class (in my free time, that is...).
