I worked in the past 3 months on a class-addon for Samsara. 3 new classes were supposed to be released once I would be done. But modding Samsara is (very) difficult, and there are still things I did not fully understand (e.g. PD etc.). Now (with the permission of Terminus), I'll dump all the resources of the 3 new classes here. If anyone got the time, motivation and experience to finish this addon, it'd be great. If not, I'll finish it, but it will be delayed by 3 months because I'll be on vacation.

1.) Grondoval (from Witchaven I/II)

Short description:
Grondoval is an excellent melee fighter. With his strong weapons he is able to kill any enemy within seconds (unless its a boss). His ranged attacks should be quite weak to balance him. His greatest weakness are hordes of monsters. They easily surround and kill him.

2.) Aldus Kaden / Mooman (from In pursuit of Greed)

Short description:
Mooman is based on sheer luck. Really. If you dont feel lucky today, do not play him. His attacks are weak, but if youre lucky, they can deal 5 times more damage (in the final addon probably even 10 times more). But chances are low. Even the pickups are based on luck. He can deal with big bosses and hordes of monsters, but once you run out of luck, prepare to die.

3.) Gordon Freeman (from Half Life)

Short description:
Gordon is quite weak at the beginning, but very strong in the late game play. His weapons are accurate and shoot very fast, but the reload eats up a lot time and ammo is quickly gone. Excellent for duels with big bosses, independent of distance from or strength of the boss. Dies easily (similiar to Duke).

Why I cancelled this addon:
I have neither the time nor the motivation to finish it. Modding Samsara is a pain the ass and I have to understand everything to make sure that the classes work as intended.

How to finish the addon:
Read the README!!! It contains a long list of what needs to be changed / finished / done!
Two classes are fully implemented in the addon, that means you can play them in Samsara (Grondoval and Aldus Kaden). Do NOT play as Freeman in the addon! He is outdated and does not work as intended! Play the weapon addon instead in the Freeman folder!

Protip:
If you want to finish this addon, please (for gods sake), do not merge it with any other addon. This is supposed to be a new samsara addon. Name it whatever you want, but give credits to the people I mentioned in the ReadMe and me of course!

Hmm due to the overlaps this will probably always be just is an add-on. I don't recognize the first two characters (so now you've piqued my interest in where they're from). How long did it take you to do all this? It looks nice, even the little mock-ups you did,

It's kind of acceptable for you to not know IPoG but how do you not know Witchaven? It's the kind of game a Hexen lover *must* know.

I really like the helix code by the way, quite nice. Could prove to be useful in the future.

I never knew HeXen was a PC game, since I had the N64 version. It wasn't until the early 2000's that I realized HeXen was actually a PC game. In the same vein, our Doom experience was limited to the SNES port. In my childhood, our PC game's were pretty much Twinsen, Abe's Odyssey, and the Blizzard library of games.

Great mod, but why do I get an "unknown class name SeekerBall" error in the console ? Works fine otherwise.

Using Zan 1.2, tried both Samsara 0.3 and the 0.31 beta.

Bit of a funny story behind that, actually.
A while back, a lad by the name of FireSeraphim wanted me to give Samsara explicit compatibility with his mod, Terra Incognita.

He was going to expand on it to make it a full Heretic thing, and I was excited to see a Heretic mod that wasn't shit, so I agreed.
Unfortunately, being a ZDoom-only mod, it had some actors that wouldn't quite work in Zandronum--hence "SeekerBall", which I left because it was a completely harmless error.

Few years later, Terra Incognita hasn't received many updates, and that error message persists.

It's actually getting to be pretty annoying, so I'll just delete Terra Incognita compatibility.

most just fixes and rebalances and a few changes, the only ones i can remember are that the 1911 duke has is now called the glock 7 and that he can now pick up thrown pipe bombs like in duke3d

Tried that using the beta but the command doesn't print anything.

Anyway, how come the ranger isn't in the new game class menu ? Is there a restriction ? Because now I have to change the class and suicide so that I spawn as Ranger. I'm playing it on single-player btw. Great mod, I'm playing each episode as a different char. :lol:

Long story short: Due to line limitations on Doom's character select screen (at least for SP), Ranger got cut. Starting an offline server through Doomseeker or the sort will allow you to pick Ranger, Otherwise, in SP mode suiciding through the ~ and respawning like you did fixes it.

or if you got a spectate button you can just spectate and rejoin your single player game, it requires you to activate the multiplayer behaviour in your game through console first though, to do that you simply type multiplayer.

Phoenix/Lollipop is correct. Z& only holds seven player classes at a time on the select screen, so Ranger's gets cut off. Type Spectate in the console and rejoin as him for fun times.
