Re-Return of the Triad TC

So what is Return of the Triad?

- It is the incarnation of Rise of the Triad game on (G)ZDoom.

What is different in Re-Return of the Triad?

- Much closer to actual RoTT in how things work. (Or getting there, slowly, however you can jump in this!)

- Classes have much more distinct properties. For example, Doug Wendt is a slow tanky character who specializes in pistols on the other hand, Lorelei Ni is a super fast character with really fragile nature but expert on bullet weapons.

- Enemies behave much closer to the actual game and weapons are more powerful!

- There are also a lot of new, fresh content to keep you on your toes such as new ranks of enemies and traps!

- And of course, epic maps!

Some more details about the project:

* So far I'm trying to make sure that the project is almost bug-free and runs smoothly without any crashes. So far, I believe I've eradicated all crashes and maps should run smoothly. (Haven't checked the DM maps yet, but it has some!) I'm coding some features that were missing from the original game such as the top display (it can be turned off by the way) or score screen (yes there's a new scorescreen that shows scores and bonuses).
* Obviously, balancing the classes and the game. There really aren't many issues on this part, maybe some later maps could use being harder. I know for certain the traps are very well designed by the previous authors, some weren't working properly in Zandronum and there might be a couple that still don't, so it's also going to take time.
* Having some new maps wouldn't hurt, at all! If anyone wants to contribute a map for this, feel free! I got a working beta that I'd rather keep to myself and any mapper who's interested, as it's kinda buggy. (Only first few levels are bug-free)
* I'm also waiting for Zandronum to have some tiny new features and fix some bugs before releasing this, so it will decide when this gets released, really.

As always, feedback/ideas are greatly appreciated! If you have any suggestions on how the gameplay can be fresher feel free to tell 'em! It doesn't have to be just pure RoTT!

... While you're there, I hope you fix the pistols.
Latest return has some shoddy drop/pickup code and a wrong frame duration in one of them.
And the CHONG (near death) sound shouldn't replace Taradino's death sound. AND Lorelei doesn't even have her soundclass.

I just woke up, so this post will have to be very short. I fixed TONS of bugs and inaccuracies with the original game, such as player sounds, weapon speeds (some I actually changed for certain classes to give them new, distinct advantages over each other), enemy behaviour and so on.

But yes, essentially I'm making it Zandronum compatible. Maps and all included! (After I make an elaborate post, I hope some people will even want to map for this, it has around 9-10 legit maps currently with HUGE size)

Man, a less bullshit, co-op friendly version of the Extreme ROTT levels would make for some good survival. Something original in the same style would work as well.

I loved El zee's Return of the Triad and as a big fan of the original ROTT I have to say I am really looking forward too this. Good luck.

It's only 5.99 on GOG, and then there's the shareware which features arguably the best maps for the game(not that the retail maps aren't great, they are).

Yea, in which this TC has recreations of 2 of the maps from shareware. (As secrets ^_^) However, E4 is arguably the worst out of all in RoTT retail. Ask anyone, no one really enjoys that part of the game. Parts 1&2 seem to be the best for many.

I think even E4 has a few good levels, it just feels like the designers(well, designer) didn't spend as much time polishing the episode in comparison to the others.

Love this.....

So, are you planning to add some female-custom guard's? since the original one's were scrapped from the original game, i would love to see them or a custom-way of them... oh btw some of their sound's are available at the rott goddies pack :P

Oh, and have you planned to add bullet's to pistol's and mp40? it could be interesting, since there's a bullet frame at the original game, and in some cases, it could balance the game (offtopic example: at samsara addon's).

Here's an example showing a mod with bullet-limited pistol's and mp40.
