Update:

Found a basic structure for the gameplay; preferably a progression-invasion-based map system.

Current features:

Fully-functional multiplayer-based system (on Zandronum 3.1).
Change directions during combat; gameplay revolving around strategic movement (one akin of a bullet hell shooter).
Turning is non-instantaneous to provide a more realistic feel during combat; careful movement is a requirement.
Low gibhealth. Enemies may just gib for the hell of it, of course this would have to include you. (Featuring flying body parts).

Ideas & Plans:

Players will battle through subsectors divided by hellspawn of accelerating difficulty with a singular primary objective (Alien Swarm-inspired).
Classes to deal with large groups of enemies, small groups of stronger enemies and support (Killing Floor-inspired teamplay).
Players will upgrade weapons between subsectors (similar to that of Resident Evil 4).
Combat roll with rewarding i-frames (To that of Enter the Gungeon).
