Yep.
The new builds were starting to irritate me when I would play them.
AOW just wasn't fun anymore.

How about some mod in which one of players from both teams have to put a colored imp's head somewhere on the map, and then, once both teams already placed their 'targets' they have to find and collect/splatter/desecrate the enemy team's 'mascot', all that while killing each other with usual Doom weapons? AOW maps are big enough for this sort of game, sooooo...

Maybe take it and hold it like Posession. You cannot pick up your own flag/skull, so you gotta defend it once it's dropped also hoping your other team mates hold theirs.

Actually come to think about it, AOW maps are pretty huge for this sort of thing, so either the holding time should be something around a minute or two, or players should have super murdery weapons...
