Yeah different times of day is definitely a concept we'll look into, although cycling through them in 'real time' wouldn't happen. We'd have day maps and night maps, separately. In the night, hunting would be a different experience that involves torch lighting like in Minecraft, and the animals would behave differently.Neewbie wrote: a cool feature would be weather and day/night cycle with nice skybox that would be awesom
It's not the official logo or anything. I made it as a placeholder for the time being.Strych6 wrote: very neat idea. The taxidermy'd hell baron is a touch of brilliance.
I had actually found that prior to this thread, but it seems way too fragile and I wouldn't be able to figure out how to use it either.Strych6 wrote: If theres a terrain dispute, http://forum.zdoom.org/viewtopic.php?t=6200 . Good luck though I could never, for the life of me find out how to use that thing.
Don't worry, W1D3A55 has been sculpting the terrain for this map manually. It's quite impressive.
Our daydreams are somewhat mutual. I envisioned a currency/trade system too, but that wouldn't be until a later version because it's apparently too much of an advanced thing to implement. I've seen it done before quite a few times though.Strych6 wrote: of course I don't know much about the gameplay, and at this point Im just daydreamin: It'd be neat if it was a survival wad, literally. Perhaps you're in a tribe, and some tribes will periodically try and kill food on your territory or raid your armories, granaries etc. Maybe some tribes will pay you for mercenary services. It'd be neat if there was no currency either, just some bartering/gifting oppurtunities. But I know this is a lot of work :P
As for the 'tribes', are you talking about multiplayer? If not, the AI for the tribes would have to be superbly coded. Creative ideas nonetheless

Yep, just like many fishing games, there will be a competitive mode. A goal would be set, like to hunt down a specific species given a minimum size. One gameplay catch is that the hunted animal has to be carried back to your base in order to be weighed, and the best hunts tend to be the furthest away.Flynn_Taggart95 wrote: Your mod looks like it would be great to romp around online (maybe even see who can score the most in a hunting competition).
Final version is far from being out yet, and I do realize I'd started this thread too early.Watermelon wrote: This is a pretty cool idea. I like the atmosphere; looking forward to the final version if it's not out yet
If you need ACS/decorate help, I can assist a small bit.
There's a wad link in the original post that's frequently updated, although currently still in its very early stages.
We definitely need some DECORATE assistance for the animals themselves. If you'd like to help, please PM me and I'll explain the situation. That would be appreciated

Thanks for your suggestions, fellows!
