Perhaps the reason why nobody uses so much effects in their maps is not because they "suck" as you say so but perhaps because part of the reason people are attracted to doom engine in the first place is because they like the simplistic graphic style and don't want to ruin it with all the ridiculous quality realistic graphics which make me want to puke.

That could be just me though.

(no offense to anyone in general or project author specifically)

Well, fuck my life. I can't recognize one bit of Doom from there, except for the hump sound that was played after you fell.
I wonder how big the project is in file size already... I'd estimate about 1GB at the time of release (if any).

Since this requires a special OpenGL library to achieve the depth of field and bloom crap (go through the blog, it'll tell you), no it couldn't just be a TC.

My jaw had already dropped way before I got to the video. Then I watched it.

Holy fucking shit. I have no clue how you managed to do this with GZDoom, but I literally can't wait to play this thing.

And yes, I did register just to make this post

I was amazed at the videos, especially that new "overgrowth" one, and it finally just hit me that this is running on a modified engine made over twenty years ago.

I MEAN DAMN SON.

I hope he optimalized the OpenGL code too...
Maybe ZANZAN can even use it for itself ehehehe

*reads article. Decides to read the comments* ...... *forgot that its still Kotaku even with a good article* I would like to meet some of these people.... so I can bust their fingers with a Louisville Slugger.

Anyways...

The mod looks great can't wait to see it in action. Would be pretty interesting to see youtubers react to it. It'd be sick if Two Best Friends played it during thier Shitstorm of Scarines series in October.

This looks impressive up and down. Hell, I'd think it's something different than Doom if not for the landing grunt. Hopefully this won't take much longer. (I hope)

That is like, a mixed feelings deal. Mark did make a notorious mod, which did get popular, but on the other hand I don't think Wad'a'holic is an asshole, unlike Mark.

Wad'A'Holic is a modder before Mark, so i think he deserves more respect than a comparison like that.

edit:

why do people think it's an modified engine? '-'
it's just zandronum/gzdoom running with that opengl hack xD (but ofc, the mod was adapted to make a better use of that new features)
