Honestly, I just love Complex Doom so much that it's hard for me to play with any other mods that would conflict with it. If you want a standalone weapon mod though, Trailblazer might be a good one to start with.

Russian Overkill for its really interesting and creative designs, same goes for Project MSX which has some lovely crafted gun sprite animations.
There are many worth trying, but those two really stood out for me.

I have to go with eweps. It's the first mod I ever found and figured out how to play on zdoom back when I found out doom was still relevant in a way, so it really set a great standard to me.

That hardly qualifies. They are basically the skulltag guns with new sounds lol. I guess I do have to give a shoutout to the skulltag guns for being the reason I installed the port though.

there was another mod here, i cant find it, it involved army stuff and helicopters, didnt play it but it looked interesting
