This map is too long for shit. Should've chosen something with less monsters, especially since its only the first round. Oh well, at least it should trim some of the fat in this competition.

That doesn't mean there isn't going to be a massive loss fest anyway... Which means higher chance to win if you can actually pull this off.

Yeah, just making sure because more than one person thought it was elimination before.

Well in this case, I'll bring the cheap beer for myself, you enjoy your alt tab porn till you dehydrate from loosing too much liquid, because I still plan to take my time before rolling over and dying..... :wonk:

Have a nice day sir.

Also, after taking a look at the options for the next round, I'm having a really strong feeling that we are still going to see AV 14 in this tournament?

Not sure why you have such a strong feeling, AV is probably going to be a vote like HR and HR2

A snorefest is the perfect way to start off a tournament, didn't you know?

Takes a few hours if you're terrible at the game, oh wait...

DarkMantis ragequit the tournament so I'll be moving Psycho/Hurt me Plenty to team up with Zyraxes and leaving Source out because he was just filling anyway.

Ivan said he's probably not gonna have time for this. I'm having Jonbon fill in his place and play with me. HurtMePlenty is reallocated to Zyraxes' team and the game played today was cancelled.

Also, to clarify something: total time only counts games won, to keep things fair (losing a map in 2 minutes could end up giving you an advantage later on if you win the other games)

Why carry that on? Really not needed. As for the complaints, I announced the map on monday and I had people shouting at me 2 days later, I considered changing the map and asked Watakid about it, but we agreed that it would fuck up the timeframe badly. Plus, most teams had already started practicing on it and one game was played (and cancelled because one player decided to ragequit the tournament after it.)

There are 6 maps, I'm sure every single one will have complaints from at least one or two teams. Yeah I know this one had complaints from almost all teams, and I couldn't have guessed that it would get so much hate. I'm sorry. I'm not afraid to admit it was a huge mistake on my part to pick this for the first week, but it's already done and it's too late to be changed. Remember there are 5 other maps to be played and 2-3 of these will be voted by the teams. This is not an elimination style tournament so if you lose on week 1 you will still get to play all of the other maps.

Also I would like to remind the teams to have their vote ready so we can announce next week's map by monday. Good luck to all and have fun.

I've just played 30 minutes with Argentum on this map, and I think we got to around 70% left on monster kills. Now I'm not here to bash you or anything, as I appreciate the effort you've gone through to host a survival tourney, but this map you've picked is really unplayable for a survival tournament. I signed up for this tournament thinking that they would be fairly efficient maps, but in all honesty I would be surprised if many teams even survive to the end. I've only got a few hours a week to practice with Arg on this map, but I don't even know what will happen for the other 70% of the map because I don't have the time or patience to waste my day by keep playing through it over and over.

The problem is that this map is pure and only pure a test of memorisation and patience. There are no real "hard" fights. Only the map coercing you to approach a situation the wrong way / catching you by suprise with cheap traps. But most of it is just tedious peekaboo corner shooting where your own greed gets you killed.

The best way to beat this is by playing it in sp with saves first so you know what's comming. Because it only gets worse later btw ;)

Tl;dr memorise the map or get rekt.

I've played through it with god mode in single player since so I know roughly what to expect on the map. But my argument (which you seem to be missing) is that this map shouldn't really have been picked for a survival tourney in the first place. From past survival tournaments I've participated in they have been played on wads that don't take hours to complete 1 single map. Personally I don't have enough spare time on my hands to keep practising a map that takes over 1 and a half hours to complete.

Yeah Frits said it right, I wouldn't exactly say there are no real "hard" fights though because you can still get overwhelmed in some traps despite knowing about them. Regardless, I'd recommend teams to blow through the map with extra lives for practice so they don't have to start over if they happen to die, to help memorize some of it and just have an idea of what's coming.

Again, I didn't expect the map to turn out having this much hate, and I apologize for screwing up the first week of the tournament. Obviously the most important thing is people having fun playing these maps. I hope the next weeks turn out to be much more fun than this, and I hope that letting the teams vote for a map will help accomplish that.
