[Suggestion] 2vs2 TDM Tournament

So since most of the active clans seems like loving scrim in TDM, and supporting Capo's idea about tournaments, I start up therewith a pretty simple tournament based off a double-elimination bracket including between 8-16 teams.

What do you guys think? Any suggestions?

Edit: Removed the biggest part of my post no not confuse anyone with the old/new rules.

A 2v2 tdm tourney just like this was organised one or two years ago, it went great.
Cba looking on the rules but generally yeah such tourneys do tend to be successful since they require less players than in ctf, and usually it's more carefree so people are more willing to play when theyr'e on than when theyre at their best.
I'm willing to promote and help this if you want :)

Also, everything I said on this thread isn't official... There are no map pool, and we're not going to play double-elimination based games for the playoffs.(

Consider using whatever the current tdm compilation is and let the players pick any map from said compilation. It's more exciting when there is such a variety and teams being unpredictable with their choices. If needed (teams can't agree), have an arbitrator (ie tournament runner) pick a tie-breaker map.

Make small divisions if there are obvious skill gaps (not fun for either party).

Of course, common sense is to let players pick their own partners.

Keep registration fairly low for easy maintenance and speedy completion. It's not the end of the world if one team doesn't get in, there will always be others. Not like there's a reward at the end.

Hound on people to make sure their games get down, pick 1 or 2 people that have done a good job in running stuff (is stdl really a prime example I DUNNO).

I would say go N/OS. Freelook/item respawn, the rest of the flags OS.

Good luck, I love 2v2 tdm, it's my favourite mode of play. Hope it turns out well.
I'm not really sure about letting people pick their own partners... even within a division there are rather significant skill differences - the only way this would work is if we had each player in his turn, choose a partner from his division, generally starting from the weakest to the strongest.

Picking a partner for tdm is more than just skill, it's based on picking someone that you know you will enjoy playing with, someone you can communicate well with, someone you know can work well with your times, someone you know well and can work well with in terms of strategies and overall coherence. It's less about "hur dur skil" and more about how well you operate with a particular player.

Picking your own partner means likely picking a friend which means it will be more fun which gives incentive to get games done and thus a higher chance for a REASONABLE completion time.
Why do you think that everyone would have this consideration in mind? Obviously some strong players would just pick the best player so that they will dominate together, basing teams upon these friendships would just create very lopsided teams, sure we can follow your idea and have a swift+fluff team or something of the sort and call it a day, but I want this to be more interesting rather than make it easy to predict who's gonna win before it even started.

You should consider a new name for yourself, the one I gave you 3 years ago.

Try actually explaining what's wrong instead of doing this? If you're here to troll then get away from this thread. Simple.

No, you're expecting me to accept your view and when I dont, You resort to trolling.
I thought this wasn't 2011 anymore, apparently you didn't change since then. I'm not going to reply further unless you want to counter my argument instead of acting like a kid.

Decay wrote: I'm not expecting you or anyone to accept my view. It seems you just don't understand it. If anything you're pushing your own views here. I am simply expressing my disbelief about how stupid they are. You are the most unreflexive individual I have ever had the displeasure to meet in my entire life. You also have one of the biggest victim complexes. When something doesn't go your way, instantly the other person must be trolling. The brick is the ultimate symbol of your intellect and personality.

You're treating this like a duel tournament, or ctf tournament. It's neither, and hey guess what you haven't run either of those game modes successfully, and are already gearing up to run this into the ground. I don't know about you, but I'd actually like to see some success. I have a lot of TDM experience and was offering my advice as someone who 1) has lots of TDM experience and 2) has actually run a successful TDM tournament here. If you don't understand the fundamental aspect of TDM, you're fucked right from the beginning. Tournaments depend on the players. You're giving people the short end of the stick.
I don't need, nor want to hear what you think about me or my personality. You could have just spared the useless personal attacks and there is definitely no justification for that if you think so.
After chatting with a few people about your idea I do have to admit that I become more convinced towards it, but obviously it becomes easier to be convinced when you have a friendly discussion rather than have somebody arrogantly voice theirs and attack you when you express doubt about it, don't you think ???

Happy?
