Read title. I thought that this would a good way to educate people about MM8BDM and how it differs from Doom. (The best comparison off the top of my head is Heretic with a zillion weapons, plus items as weapons and tons of utility items.)

But your in a doom community......

Also, fair warning, any troll posts or posts with zero substance other than "lol mm8bdm" will have action taken upon them.

I don't come on a doom port to not play doom...
Mods are cool and all, but in small doses for me right now.

This is basically an invite to bring in players from the Doom side of the port, which isn't a big deal really.

I think you would have better luck appealing to MM8BDM fans and educating THEM about the real game behind the engine, over at a more MM populated forum (eg, CutStuff) for these matters.

What kind of challenge is this? A duel? Anything in MM8BDM? Or just "join a MM8BDM server and you win"?

I think this is more like veiled, polite "So you think megamans suck? Go on and show us how much we suck". And this is interesting.
Taking best megamans players and some Doom players, and make them team dm in megaman (because, as Doom is an old community, there is no way megaman players would win doom dm with doomers, I think?)

That seems like a cheesy way to win....

You do have a point. I'm saying that because previous attempts to bring MM8BDM to Zandronum have ended up going awry. I'm not trying to censor anything but troll posts that don't need to be here.

It's basically me extending my interest in dueling with Zandronum community members to show them the ropes.

As for the first post, you're going to need to be a little fuller in your aims. What is it exactly you want to show, want us to do, etc.

I found Toxic rather reasonable, actually.

The idea was I was going to invite community members to duel with me to show them the broad strokes in terms of differences between how Doom plays and how MM8BDM plays. For example, Megaman has Speed 0.8 vs. DoomPlayer's 1.0 (duh). That's a pretty big difference, and it makes it harder to rush in with a close-range weapon, to name one consequence.

None. Mega Man didn't have any hitscans, so neither does MM8BDM. Even Instagib uses super-fast Metal Blades instead of a railgun. DTD made a hitscan railgun for the initial version of his AMP map pack, but it was canned because of the weapons conflicting with the then-server mafia's favorite mods. (Said mafia is was greatly diminished even before v3a let MM8BDM access BEST-EVER, so it's a damn shame in hindsight.)

Not at all! If this was a veiled, polite version of a ballsy psuedoinsult, it would be "Please stop hating on it before you know what you're talking about."

Your suggestion wouldn't be any better than the alternative. Because MM8BDM and Doom play differently, most of the top Doom players' skills don't apply; it would be a massacre. This is an attempt to rectify that situation.

Well that's certainly flattering that you would be kind enough to show people how to be good at MM8BD, maybe some people will be intrigued by this. I however don't see myself playing MM anytime soon; gave it a go a while back and it just wasn't my cup of tea. I wish you the best of luck on your endeavors.

No, no, I don't say there would be anything bad with this :) "Please stop hating on it" sounds like invitation to a drama, "I challenge you" and some veiled bragging and provoking, but to getting a gun and not to slapfight on forums is awesome and
